So has anyone done this yet? I'm trying to do this but don't went to take the full step until I see it worked for others.

I have a soft modded wii with an external hard drive plugged in it that has 400 wii games on it. It runs great for me but my homie actually did the hacking but you can usually find tuts online or pay someone from craigslist.

careful how you do it... if you downgrade the software to install the homebrew or whatever the fuck it is, they can and probably will brick your Wii.

I've heard some sites explain how to do it without having to downgrade the software, but I have no clue how to do it.

Needless to say, it was a lot easier to mod the Wii before the newest round of software patches.

Shit I really don't even know where to look honestly that's what my Asian homie is for. He stays on top of the shit so I don't have too. He just likes to do that type of shit. As far as downgrading firmware I know there is a new hack for the newest firmware (4.3 I believe) you just have to have an OG copy of a certain game (like the old twilight hack) but I forget what 2 games my boy said would work and yeah I have no idea how he actually does it.

yea it gotta be a certain number to get soft modded...i got the all black wii off of overstock.com and had it modded the next day from some dude on craigslist come to find out he lives right down the street from me.anything new i want i just call him up and get free games lol.
