It doesn't matter who we have at QB if we keep switching offensive coordinators. We need to stick with one for a few years and have our starting QB develop and get comfortable with one system

49ers K Ricky Schmitt (groin) missed Thursday's practice.
Uh-oh. Joe Nedney has already been ruled out with a hamstring injury, so the Niners may have to hold impromptu tryouts Friday. Nick Folk is available.

and these are all connected, obviously

49ers coach Mike Singletary reconsidered the idea of playing Isaac Bruce in Sunday's season finale after the other 49ers receivers lobbied for Bruce to suit up.
The 49ers are playing Bruce's former team, the Rams, on Sunday. Josh Morgan, who replaced Bruce in the starting lineup earlier this season, went to Singletary and said he wanted the veteran to start over him this week. Look for Bruce to be announced as a starter, get a huge ovation from the St. Louis fans, and play a few snaps in the NFL for the final time.

49ers offensive coordinator Jimmy Raye insists that Isaac Bruce (ankle) is not prepared to play in a reunion game at St. Louis Sunday.
Raye says he doesn't want to "disrespect" Bruce with a token appearance. Bruce and the other Niners receivers may end up successfully lobbying for that token appearance, but we wouldn't count on significant action this week.

Isaac Bruce (ankle) missed practice again Thursday.
The idea of Bruce getting major playing time in his return to St. Louis is nice, but it's not going to happen. Bruce may be a team captain for the opening coin toss, but that may be the longest he's on the field Sunday.

Clements to stay put in 2010

Don't expect cornerback Nate Clements to go anywhere next season - not to free safety and not to the waiver wire. Despite Shawntae Spencer's improved play, Clements' big 2010 salary - he's set to earn $6 million - and his Week 8 demotion, the 49ers still consider him a starting cornerback. Mike Singletary said as much this week when discussing how he'd prefer not to have receiver Josh Morgan returning kicks next season.

"In terms of having your starting wide receiver be your kickoff guy," Singletary said, "I just don't get excited about that. No more than Nate returning punts in the Indianapolis game, your starting corner. No, I don't get excited about that. But, sometimes guys have to step up and do that. That (return man) is a priority for us this offseason."

Clements, of course, broke his shoulder returning a punt against the Colts and hasn't played since. He has, however, been a limited participant in practice this week.

The 49ers have other question marks at cornerback because three players - Walt Harris, Dre Bly and Marcus Hudson - will be free agents at the end of the season. Harris commands a lot of respect in the locker room and has performed much of his rehab from ACL surgery in Santa Clara, an indication he wants to come back. The 49ers, however, are leery of how well his body will hold up at age 35.

Hudson will be a restricted free agent if there is no new collective bargaining agreement (it's not likely to happen) and the 49ers should be able to bring him back at a low cost. Bly, meanwhile, was on the verge of being released after his Deion-esque interception-turned-fumble against Atlanta. However, he has supplanted Tarell Brown as the starter since then and has played well. The 49ers would like him back, but Bly probably wants to test the free-agent water at the end of the season.

49ers signed K Shane Andrus.
Ricky Schmitt, who came down with a groin injury in practice, didn't even make the trip to St. Louis. Joe Nedney remains out with a hamstring injury. Andrus didn't make a single field goal in three games with the Bucs earlier in the season.

49ers placed K Ricky Schmitt (groin) on injured reserve, ending his season.
Joe Nedney has a hamstring injury, so the Niners are down to Shane Andrus for the regular-season finale.

This season was a major disaster for the Hawks. If the Hawks have a repeat of this season next season, then I'll agree, but if we make some good offseason moves(like getting rid of Greg Knapp), then I'll say the 9ers beat the Hawks in SF, and lose to the Hawks at Qwest Field again. I hope the 9ers sweep the Tards again, though. I hope we sweep them, too! LOL

Yup. Warner will be a year older and I see a few AZ heads leaving in the off-season. I hope Warner retires and Lienart comes in lol. As for the Hawks I think their gonna have more holes next year, and Hasselbeck is on the decline IMO but if anyone is gonna beat us next year in the West it'll be us breaking even with the Hawks.

Nah I don't think Hasselbeck is on the decline. He played good today, even with that weak ass oline. Give him a some time in the pocket, and he'll get the ball in the receivers hands. That's why I hope the Hawks use their two 1st round picks on olineman. They have to find a good replacement for Walter Jones, and I don't think Sean Locklear is the answear.

I really really hope they get rid of Greg Knapp, though. It might be just me, but from the plays that were being called all season long, it seemed like Knapp meant for the Hawks to be fuck-ups this season. Calling a run play on a 2nd & 20 in no mans land?

Not even being a hater.. but I honestly think the Seahawks are on the decline. I will say though that if anyone beats us in the division it's most likely to be the Seahawks at Seattle, since the Cardinals are our bitches.

The Seahawks were on the decline from the 08 season to the 09 season. Went from a playoff bound team to winning at least 4 games a season. I just hope things will be better for the Hawks in the 2010 season. Maybe win six games? lol
