skateboarding, star trek, and hip hop?

i just saw a rap group of kids called "ice cream skate team" and they started yelling out "star trek!!!" and the whole crowd (this was on bet mind you) was yelling star trek back at them.
is this the new gimmick hip hops trying to roll with now? someone inform me cause i dont really keep up on the mainstream hip hop. i dont know whos the most popular rapper nowadays...but is skateboarding and star trek becoming cool in hip hop now?

That skate team ain't no rap group. Pharrell was talkin about how he used to skate when he was young but now a days hes just tryin to promote skate teams so he made himself one (the ice cream skate team)

I've never heard of this either. But I don't watch MTV or BET, listen to "hip hop" radio stations, or read shitty "hip hop" magazines. I guess that's why I'm in on the Siccness and not "Kanye boards."
