Long Beach OG and Lil Brother to Compton’s top producer, Warren G has chose to take us all back to the golden age. The early 90s with a new film titled G-Funk, set to debut at this year’s Austin-based film and music fest SXSW.
The “Regulator” hit maker has teamed up with West Coast filmmaker Karam Gill to deliver the exact visual to the crafting of Gangsta Rap storytelling, laidback delivery’s over old-school grooves that made what we call the legendary “G-Funk” sound.
“From Snoop’s snippets of The Chronic’s recording sessions, and many more gems.it’s all here,” says Gill.
The film was produced under Warren’s “G-Funk Productions” banner along with Rafael Chavez and Gary Ousdahl of The Chavez Brothers Productions, and Robert Ruggeri of Omega Point Films.
The documentary was filmed in and around Los Angeles and will feature exclusive interviews with Ice Cube, Snoop Dogg, Ice-T, Kurupt, The Lady of Rage, and more.
SXSW begins on March 10 and ends on March 18.
