Update: Rapper Mitchy Slick Released From Jail

A hip-hop musician from San Diego will be released from jail in Marin County after he was accused of kidnapping a woman in Southern California and holding her captive in a Marin County home.

The Marin IJ reported Thursday that Charles Mitchell, known as Mitchy Slick, was booked on suspicion of kidnapping, human trafficking, participating in a criminal street gang and other charges.

He surrendered Tuesday after a warrant was issued for his arrest. Mitchell is being released from jail because the district attorney wants more time to gather information on the case.

Marin County Sheriff’s Department spokesman Lt. Doug Pittman told the paper that Mitchell was booked 11 days after deputies executed a search warrant in the tony enclave of Sleepy Hollow. The woman who had allegedly been abducted from Southern California was able to escape and called police to report her abduction.

Mitchell was not at the residence at the time of search and had avoided arrest.

Pittman did not release the name of the woman or how long she had been held against her will.

According to the paper, Pittman also did not say how sheriff’s investigators became aware of the alleged kidnapping.
