In Spec Kay’s words: The song ‘Barry’ is rooted in wishful thinking and determination, Thoughts and practices of being successful in your field, my field so happens to Hip-Hop, a competitive landscape but the biggest challenge is yourself, I use the title as a moment to merge the music/self-competition, as it is a reference to Barry Sander & Barry Gordy whom both shaped the culture of Detroit.
