Shots fired at Fresno City College

Police are investigating a shooting that happened Monday morning at Fresno City College.

No one was apparently hit by the shots, first reported about 11:15 a.m.

Fresno police officers detained a man in connection with the apparent shooting near the intersection of Blackstone and Shields avenues, about a mile north of the campus, but later released him.

A witness said the shooting happened on the Fresno City College campus near the Math/Science Building — which faces a parking lot on the south side of campus near McKinley Avenue — and she saw two men running away.

Heaton Elementary School on the south side of McKinley Avenue was locked down.

No other details were immediately available.
