(Seattle, Washington) Based just outside a city that saw the meteoric rise of Macklemore and a recent Super Bowl championship for their hometown Seahawks, Everett, WA emcee J-Key is cutting his teeth in a market that recently got widespread attention for its diversity and eclectic music scene. Blessed with a fiery passion for delivering lyrics in a precise yet catchy format J-Key has a diverse pallet when it comes to his selection of words and music coming. Coming from a diverse family background that’s lived in Seattle his whole life, J-Key has developed a reasonable fan base in the northwest over the past few years with various releases.
With music having been played on MTV, AllHipHop, HipHopSince1987, World Star, Digital Dripped, Datpiff and other sites J-Key is now in the process of recording his vlog series called “Keys Open Doars.” With the help of True Indy Management, J-Key is giving fans a closer look at his life behind the scenes with Boarfe Clothing Co.
“I grew up in a tight knit family, so family and loyalty are very important to me. I didn’t grow up around much hip hop culture, I just listened to the music so I don’t come off as the typical hip hop head. It’s very diverse where I’m from so I’ve seen and experienced a lot of different walks of life so keeping an overall family and real vibe in my music is important to me,” J-Key explained. “I focus on having something meaningful to say because my parents would never let me rap about all the negative things you usually hear. I think that the diversity of my earlier years allowed me to stay away from the usual trends of hip hop which kept me original.”
Now amidst piecing together his upcoming project Who’s Looking ? Vol II for the past few months, J-Key is slowly releasing material from the project to give fans an idea of his potential and ability to control the mic . While you can hear undertones of a more lyrical and boom bap style of rap music, J-Key has some catchy word play thats garnered verses from Nipsey Hussle, Glasses Malone and Boogz Boogetz to name a few.
In addition to co-signs in the form of verses, J-Key has also jumped on the road throughout the Northwest (Washington, Idaho, Oregon) with a host of talent including the aforementioned Nipsey Hussle, YG, Kirko Bangz, Kid Ink and more.
