LOS ANGELES, CA, August 17, 2015 Straight out of Compton, rapper and celebrity tattoo artist, iAmCompton presents Money 2 Spend. “Money 2 Spend” is the first single off of his forthcoming mixtape, New COMP City. The Los Angeles native goes back to the streets of Compton for his latest visual with cameos by girlfriend Kyla Pratt and Eazy-E’s own son, Lil Eazy E. The video was shot and directed by Eskotron (Trey Songz, Miley Cirus, Robin Thicke, Florida Georgia Line).
Don’t call it a comeback; the West coast has been here for years. However, thanks to artists like Kendrick Lamar and YG, producers DJ Mustard and Dr. Dre – who recently released his Compton: A Soundtrack By Dr. Dre project – the resurgence of L.A. Hip-Hop is infecting the radio waves all around the world. The N.W.A. biopic Straight Outta Compton, which chronicles the progressive and controversial hip-hop group’s debut album, furthermore assimilates the West Coast sound into Pop culture. iAmCompton (the “iAM” an acronym for Ink, Art and Music) believes the spotlight is on his city now more than ever. With his city tatted on his flesh, he feels it’s his time more than ever to shine.
“The West is back on the map,” states iAmCompton. “There are a lot of great artists like myself that have been doing their thing on this coast. It feels good to see that the rest of the world is respecting that.”
Regarding “…the rest of the world”, iAmCompton had the opportunity to perform alongside Atlanta hitmaker, Rich Homie Quan. The “Flex”, Def Jam Recording artist took iAmCompton on an international tour where iAmCompton got to perform in front of a new audience.
“Canada was amazing,” says iAmCompton. “A lot of people don’t get to travel outside of their backyard and do the things I’ve been blessed to do. It’s a whole world out there that I’m taking back to L.A. with me.”
New COMP City is slated to drop September 11, 2015 through Roulette Media Records. “Money 2 Spend” is available on all digital platforms and will be broadcasting on all major networks. In addition to New COMP City, iAmCompton and Rich Homie Quan collaborated on a joint EP slated to drop this Fall. iAmCompton is also taking his sound to the stage October 10th at the “How The West Was Won” concert with The Game and Schoolboy Q. E-40, Warren G and Problem round out the show hosted by Los Angeles’ new Real 92.3.
