The media giant TMZ has reported that East Coast rapper Prodigy of the Infamous group Mobb Deep has left the hip hop community. Rumors have it that a publicist told TMZ that Prodigy was hospitalized after a performance in Las Vegas as part of the “Art of Rap” tour that featured Ice-T and Onyx among others. Prodigy performed Saturday night and was hospitalized from “complications caused by a sickle cell anemia crisis.”
The cause of death is unknown, but Prodigy had suffered from health problems for years.
Mobb Deep, a hip-hop duo featuring Prodigy and partner Havoc, had several hits, including “Quiet Storm” and “Shook Ones.”
