New Details Emerge Surrounding Chinx’s Murder

The NYPD is checking surveillance cameras in Queens for clues in Sunday’s shooting death of Lionel Pickens, known professionally as the rapper Chinx. But police have few solid leads.

Many assumed closing this case would be a slam dunk because of the high visibility location of the shooting on Queens Boulevard. He was shot while inside his Porsche. But the NYPD’s top detective says investigators are a long way from making an arrest.

The memorial to the 31-year-old father of three gets bigger with every passing day. The questions about his shooting are also growing.

NYPD Chief of Detectives Robert Boyce said police have no eyewitnesses and no video of the actual incident just yet.

Saturday night, Chinx hosted a party at Club Redwolf in Brooklyn. Police and his family said that he then went to a hookah bar in Queens that was closed.

Fox 5 exclusively obtained a clip from surveillance video that was turned over to police. It shows his Porsche leaving. Then he and his 27-year-old passenger were shot when they went to drop off a third person at Queens Boulevard near at Main Street.

Investigators believe one gunman is responsible. Police are not yet sure about the getaway vehicle. But one thing is clear: with highways nearby, it was an easy getaway location.
