Rapper Young Dolph was injured in a shooting near Hollywood Boulevard and Highland Avenue on Tuesday.
Eyewitness News has learned the injured victim was the 32-year-old rapper from Memphis, whose real name is Adolph Thornton Jr.
The Hollywood shooting was reported shortly after 1 p.m. The victim was transported to an area hospital in critical but stable condition.
One person was in custody in connection with the shooting, Los Angeles police said.
Police say the rapper was involved in a confrontation with three people that started as a verbal argument and escalated into a physical altercation. Young Dolph fell to the ground and one of the three people started shooting, police said.
Young Dolph was able to get up and run into the shoe store while the three men ran off in different directions. Police were able to detain one man and two others are still at-large.
The rapper was set to perform on Thursday at The Marke in Los Angeles.
