Egyptian Lover – interview: birth of L.A. hip-hop, 80’s electro scene, Kraftwerk, Dr. Dre, TR-808

Some time ago we had a chance to chop it up with the West Coast electro hip-hop pioneer Egyptian Lover. During the 12-minute interview he told us about the birth of Los Angeles’ hip-hop and its electro scene in the 80’s, the legendary Uncle Jamm’s Army parties, Dr. Dre, being influenced by Kraftwerk and Prince, the genesis of his “Egyptian” style, his love of Roland TR-808 drum machine, and more. Enjoy!
