East Coast Podcast Host Taxstone Charged With Murder, Pleads Not Guilty

Brooklyn native and Hip Hop podcasts host was charged with murder on Thursday in connection with a shooting during a T.I. concert at Irving Plaza in Manhattan last year.

The man, Daryl Campbell, 31, who goes by the stage name Taxstone, pleaded not guilty before Justice Maxwell Wiley in New York State Supreme Court.

“We are going to fight these charges,” Mr. Campbell’s lawyer, Kenneth Montgomery, said outside court. “He’s innocent.”

Mr. Campbell is accused of firing a bullet that killed Ronald McPhatter, a 33-year-old bodyguard, when gunfire broke out in a V.I.P. section of the concert hall on May 25, 2016.

Three other people were wounded, including the Crown Heights rapper Troy Ave, whose legal name is Roland Collins. Mr. Collins, 33, has also been accused of firing a weapon during the gunfight and has been charged with attempted murder.
