When DJ Quik said he was retiring last year, we prayed he was selling wolf tickets. Thankfully, the Compton legend took us off the ledge last week by confirming new album details on SKEE Live.
First of all, Quik said that his ninth solo album will called Midnight Life. The project is complete and features Dom Kennedy, Bishop Lamont, Mack 10 & Suga Free. He describes the LP as west coast party music and says it will be out after the 90 day legal jargon is ironed out. To keep us drooling, Quik hit the stage for a performance of an upbeat new song called “That N****z Crazy,” which has a beat that could be “Why You Bullshittin Part 3? and sounds extremely promising.
