easy decision? no way. I see this fight going one of two ways - berto fighting smart and using his speed and youth advantages over mosley and boxing his way to a close, but clear UD, OR if berto fights stupid it will be an all out war, back-and-forth action, with mosley winning by KO or winning a decision.

IMO it all depends on how berto fights. If he fights smart, meaning he stays away from mosley and boxes from the outside he will win. If he tries to entertain, he will lose.

He should do a little of both to make sure Shane doesn't win rounds because we know Shane is going to be the agressor. He should mix it up every now and then to land clean effective blows. Shane is going to pressure him though.

after seeing mosley's last fight and berto's last fight... haha yea mosley is going to work that kid and let him know hes not on that level just yet but the loss will be good for berto probably will make him even a better fighter.

Margarito is a come forward fighter, he was right in front of mosley to get hit all night long.

Let's not forget Cotto out-boxed Mosley. That isn't ancient history. Of course, cotto took his shots from Mosley and it was a close fight, but Cotto was able to mix it up and box and come out victoriously at the same time. Berto is much faster than Cotto and he's not afraid to clinch and tie up shane anytime he gets too close for comfort or after he lands a good shot. Berto will try to make this fight ugly, and if Berto's last fight proved anything (a boring, lopsided 12 round decision over Urango), he is willing to stick to a game plan for 12 entire rounds no matter how unpleasing it is to the crowd. To me, that shows discipline and that he learned from his mistakes against Collazo.

Yeah, I give Mosley credit for the Margarito win, but it was a perfect style matchup for Shane, IMO. Plus, I don't know if Tony's head was in the fight knowing that he pretty much got caught cheating right before. He had to be distracted.

I'm going with Shane in a decision, but wouldn't be surprised if Berto won either. He's got a wicked uppercut.

Cotto outboxing Mosley shouldn't even factor into this. Cotto would ruin Berto's face. Maybe Berto proves me wrong but Mosley has a good chin, good power and knows this leads to a mega fight.

He was able to stick to the gameplan against Urango because Urango doesn't do anything different. He walks you down, is slower than a slug and wings punches without tiring. Against Collazo he wasn't given the same kind of guy, Collazo's much faster than Urango, can box better and has shown himself to be far better than Urango.

I still say Berto gets put away here.

Cotto didn't outbox Mosley, more like Mosely showed too much respect for a fighter he could have taken out if he took more chances early on in the fight. Mosley made that mistake with Cotto, but will not make that same mistake with Berto, who ccan be hit, and his chin is still untested by an elite punch. Don't be surprised if Berto tries to mix it up with Mosley out of arrogance and fighters pride and end up getting KO'd be the heavy handed Mosely.

Cotto did outbox Mosley. A fighter winning a decision mostly off his back foot with crisp jabs and good movement while the other follows him around chasing a knockout is getting outboxed. I don't care what Mosley did or didn't do or what excuses can be made for Mosley .. he was chasing a KO against Cotto and let the fight slip away by letting Cotto outbox him on his back foot.

Yeah, hopefully it isn't too big of a distraction for Berto before the biggest fight of his life. If anything, hopefully its motivation. I like rooting for the underdog, so I'll be rooting for Berto.

Remember Berto represented Haiti in the Olympics too.

I think this will be extra motivation for him.

Look at shane vs margarito, everyone was talking about all the distractions shane had with his wife leaving him and all, the BALCO situation, etc., and he came out and beat the living shit out of margarito.

I hope berto can channel those negative emotions into a great performance.

Besides, if Berto wins it will practically force MAYWEATHER to fight Pacquiao at the end of the year.

Good point about Berto winning, and Mayweather being left with nothing.

Didn't think about that, but you're right...I seriously don't see Floyd fighting Berto at this stage in Berto's career.

ESPN: Berto concerned about family after Haiti quake
While welterweight titlist Andre Berto trains for the biggest fight of his career, a Jan. 30 unification bout against Shane Mosley, his thoughts the past two days have understandably wandered from his preparation.

Berto is Haitian-American, and he is very concerned about what is happening on the Caribbean island, where a massive 7.0-magnitude earthquake devastated the country on Tuesday.

Thousands are feared dead while rescue efforts continue in the poverty-stricken nation.

"I'm devastated by everything currently happening in Haiti," Berto said Wednesday. "As everybody knows, I have a lot of family members in Haiti and proudly represented Haiti in the 2004 Olympic Games. Like many other Haitian-Americans, my family and I are working to reach my loved ones. From what we have learned to this point, some of my family members are still missing and we have already been informed that members of my family have passed away in the earthquake."

Berto (25-0, 19 KOs) was born in the United States, but his parents were both born in Haiti before arriving in the United States as immigrants and settling in Winter Haven, Fla., where the 26-year-old still lives and trains.

Berto has been involved in Haitian charitable causes and has a foundation with offices in Port-au-Prince, the capital, which was hit very hard by the earthquake.

"Andre has a strong Haitian identity and has been involved with Haitian causes for a long time," said Lou DiBella, who has promoted Berto for his entire career. "His foundation's office has collapsed and he knows that members of his mother's family are missing and presumed dead. It's a bad situation."

DiBella said Berto has not broken camp while continuing to train for the bout, which will take place at Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas.

"He's training as hard as he can and trying to approach this fight with Mosley with a clear head, but right now he is personally distraught," DiBella said. "But I think he will turn that energy to his advantage because he knows that going out there and winning the fight will mean a lot to his Haitian fans and put him in a better position [financially] to help his people. He has friends and family all over Haiti, so pray for them. Pray for all the people of Haiti. My office is helping see what we can do."

Berto said he is figuring out what sort of help he can offer to his people.

"We are currently working on starting our own Haitian relief efforts, and I will be releasing additional information on how everyone can help very soon," Berto said. "I am asking everyone for their continued thoughts and prayers for the people in Haiti during this devastating time."
