DLH-Pacquiao gate was $17 million. Second to only DLH-Mayweather @ $19 million

I was at the fight. I actually got lucky, because RazorGator had to liquidate a few of the $1050 seats they had, and were trying to rape people for double and triple that amount, and I ended up paying something like $250 for my ticket.

Fuck ticket brokers.

yeah I was about to say ODH-Pac was one of the richest gates in history.

I know brokers are responsible for buying the majority of the tickets, but usually it's a very good indication that the fight is going to sell well if they buy them ALL within hours. I mean ticket brokers don't buy all the tickets to a marquez fight or whatever in Vegas.

Obama invites Pacquiao to whitehouse:

Pacquiao will be the first Filipino athlete ever to make an official visit to the White House, and he’s also probably the first professional boxer to meet the sports-minded Obama.

Obama loves to play basketball as much as Pacquiao does, and when they meet, briefly perhaps, they will surely talk about boxing as well, and a little bit of politics.

Pacquiao leaves tomorrow evening for Los Angeles for a whirlwind press tour to promote his May 7 fight with Shane Mosley.

Thats good for Pac and the Philippines. Just gotta hope that his true intention of being involved with congress is to help his country out.

Tryin to make the world a better place is riskiest thing u can do. We've all seen those who tried. They all left the world with bullet wounds and unsolved mysteries

The public rarely gets tickets to big fights. Almost all of them are set aside to be given away, set aside for brokers, and pre orders. Ticket Master will occasionally send me pre order passwords to fights just because I have ordered in the past.

Plus brokers will hire companies in India who will get about 50 to 100 Indians sitting there to gobble the tickets the second they are released.

Just too much competition.

Manny Pacquiao, President Obama To Meet on Feb. 15

By Ronnie Nathanielsz

Pound-for-pound king Manny Pacquiao and wife Jinkee will meet US President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama at the White House on February 15.

The Inquirer understands that the courtesy call on the US president was arranged by influential former US Senate Democratic leader Harry Reid.

Pacquiao campaigned in the last senatorial elections in Nevada and was believed to have helped Reid win a close contest by the swing votes of Filipino-Americans when Pacquiao spoke at a major rally in Las Vegas in the final stages of the campaign.

ABS-CBN's Dyan Castillejo reported that Pacquiao himself told her that he and wife Jinkee had received an invitation to meet with President Obama and the First Lady. However, the Inquirer understands that no other member of Team Pacquiao will join the meeting with the US President.

Castillejo quoted Pacquiao as saying he was "excited because my dream was to face President Obama and to talk to him." He told ABS-CBN he would ask Obama to help provide assistance in bringing progress to Sarangani province which Pacquiao represents in the Philippine congress.

Pacquiao also told PEP (the Philippine Entertainment Portal) that his heart was full to realize that Obama knew him and added "no matter where I go I carry our country's name."

Pacquiao will become the first Filipino boxer to enter the White House and it is not everybody who could be invited to the White House to meet with the US President. Pacquiao pointed out Obama is one of the most important people in the world.

He said his wife Jinkee was truly excited and could hardly believe that they would visit Washington D.C and meet the US President.

Pacquiao was quoted as saying he doesn't know what he will say or do when they are ushered in to see Obama and the First Lady. He said no matter what happens he hoped he wouldn't be nervous.

Top Rank promoter Bob Arum who has been a close and longtime friend of senator Reid said he was "not allowed to talk about the meeting with President Obama" which is understandable as a matter of protocol since the announcement should be made by the White House and the State Department.

Meantime, Arum was ecstatic over the fact that tickets for the May 7 WBO welterweight title defense of Pacquiao against former champion Shane Mosley had "all gone."

The astute promoter who switched from HBO Sports to Showtime which is owned by the
CBS network told the Inquirer "the whole connection with CBS has been unbelievable." Arum said he expects the May 7 nfight at the MGM Grand Garden Arena to "turn in the biggest numbers he (Pacquiao) has ever done" on pay-per-view.

While HBO is linked to 26 million homes, CBS reaches 115 million and its broad-based programming is expected to spotlight both Pacquiao and Jinkee in various shows that would solidify Pacquiao's position as a crossover star.

Fuck ticket brokers.
That was because of the outrageous ticket prices. How do they determine that anyways? The original ticket price was nothing compared to the ticket broker price. All of DLH's fights did well in Vegas but the ticket prices were stupid for that fight. I checked ticketmaster again the week before the fight, and there were still tickets available actually yet they said it sold out in the first hour. B.S.!!!!!!!!

I checked Ebay and 2 lower level seats are at $2500 for a starting bid.
I sat that close for Margarito vs Mosley and paid $75.

Even if I was loaded, the fight isn't worth that much to me.

I was there Chris. It was a crazy ass busy week on the Strip, period.

Not only was the MGM Grand Garden Arena jam packed, but so was the casino as well as the downstairs spot at the MGM that broadcasts closed circuit, which I believe holds 5,000+.

I was just addressing your statement that you heard that DLH-Pacquiao didn't sell well.

Mosley doesn't even sound like he thinks he can win if you ask me. He's lost already and the fight hasn't even started yet.

Y'all ever wonder if a fighter has a lackluster fight on purpose just to try and land a bigger name? He couldn't have fought Pac for free at 143 last year but now after 2 crappy performances, pac wanted to fight him. In the back of my mind, I always wonder if fighters do this crap on purpose
