This is exactly why Pacquiao should not mess around with Politics in the Philippines. Not only are politics dirty & corrupt and will stop at nothing to defeat eachother, people are killed there all the time. Hundreds were literally killed in a rally just some weeks ago. I'm actually getting pretty worried for Pac...

Pacman linked to ambush try on Sarangani mayor

By BEN O. TESIORNA
April 27, 2010, 5:32pm

The Philippine National Police (PNP) is set to look into the possible involvement of boxing champ Manny Pacquiao in the attempted ambush on the mayor of the Glan town Sunday evening.

This, after rumors surfaced that one of the two vehicles seized by the authorities from the five arrested suspects are registered under the name of Pacquiao's wife, Jinky. Several campaign stickers of Pacquiao were also recovered from the vans.

But Pacquiao, standard bearer of People’s Champ Movement, said the attempt to link him to the assassination try on Glan town mayor Enrique Yap Jr. was politically-motivated aimed at tainting his candidacy which has been gaining on his rival businessman Roy Chiongbian.

The two Toyota vans with plate numbers RBR 709 and MDM 577 were seized by the authorities from the suspects who allegedly attempted to ambush Yap.

Also taken from the suspects were an Armalite rifle and a .45 caliber pistol.

“These unfounded charges against me came out as a result of the recent survey which showed my candidacy was faring well against my opponent,” Pacquiao said.

Did anyone read the GQ piece on Manny?

He runs with some straight gangstas!

The dude The Mayor who he runs around with is a savage, and those dudes are fucking crooked and ruthless. He needs to finish his boxing career before first, doesn't he know we still need some fights for him to fight?

well, he said the other day he's going to fight 3 more times for sure then retire, win or lose the election.

I read today that he will be commentating live for the Mayweather vs Mosley fight in the Philippines as well, which makes me wish I understood Tagalog

still talkin about that steroid shit huh?

Pacquiao gave a drug sample right before his March 13th HBO Pay-per-per-view fight and one immediately after his unanimous decision victory over Joshua Clottey and both samples were clean and clear of any steroids or illegal performance enhancing drugs.

So once again, pacquiao has never tested positive for any drugs, nor has been suspected of ever doing drugs until Floyd Mayweather Sr. (who's been convicted of drug charges multiple times) made the steroid comments.

Valero??? Valero wasn't on roids man he was on massive amounts of cocaine and alcohol. When he was interrogated by the police they said he was so gone out of his mind and paranoid the shit he was saying just didn't make any since.

Further, since his death his relatives have came out and said Valero has been addicted to cocaine since he was 18 years old, first trying it at age 12 and it's been a battle his whole life.

Valero going crazy: cocaine + alcohol + mental problems + lack of sleep + possible brain injury from motorcycle accident = murder-suicide.

And Pacquiao met Valero one time some years ago I doubt he lost any sleep over it.

what Pacquiao invited Valero to his last bday in his home country they were freinds and agreed to fight down the road thats why Valero signed to Bob "The Pimp" Arum. don't believe everything u hear, your not gonna kill your wife than yourself off cocaine and alcohol dude. Chris Benoit did the same thing and he was off steroids as well(thats what made him do it). people like to sweep shit under the rug but not me

-They met one time briefly, several years ago at Pac's party, where many, many fighters and celebrities attend.

-Valero signed with Bob Arum before he met pacquiao.

-Yes, cocaine, lots of it and no sleep, in combination with alcohol has resulted in many murders. Just google.

-Steroids didn't make benoit kill his wife & kids. If you didn't hear, he had massive brain damage (Chronic Traumatic Encephalopathy (CTE)).

Interesting to note that Valero also had a severe head injury in 2002. However, his rapid decline over the past year was most likely by his out of control drug use. Again, this is no secret and all of his friends and family have openly discussed how bad his drug & alcohol addiction had become. I mean shit, he beat his wife, went to rehab, he got out and was going to go to cuba and on his way to the airport he was so fucked up he crashed his car, got into a high speed chase and missed the flight. He was drugged out of his mind in his final days. After the murder, he had told police there were underworld thugs chasing him, they checked into a hotel, people were staring at them when the checked in (who in his mind were obviously conspirators), he went to sleep and when he woke up she was dead covered in blood. In other words he was completely delusional, paranoid and possibly even hallucinating at the time of the murder. Those are clear signs of someone on drugs as well as lacking sleep. The doctors/police said there were times when he was doing almost 10 grams of coke a day. Read that last sentence again.

-Valero's story is sadly not that uncommon in boxing. One of the greatest Middleweights of all time, Carlos Monzon, like valero frequently beat his wife and ended up killing her, after which he was sent to prison he committed suicide.
