And even Paul Williams wouldn't serve Martinez shit last years fight between them was the main reason Martinez even got this shot with Pevlik and depending on who you ask a lot of people feel Martinez won that fight. So don't over look this cat just because he doesn't have the size and power that other guys have in this class. He puts up hard fights and his stamina and movement will give many guys more then enough problems. Its going to Martinez vs Pevlik 2 before he has to fight somebody else cuz there is a rematch clause in this fight anyhow.

I hope Dirrell or someone like that comes down in weight to whoop his ass, hes nothing special just runs and Pavlik almost had him figured out, i think Pavlik would do better in a rematch. Bute is way better of a fighter, maybe he will come down in weight to whoop his ass

First time I seen Martinez fight yesterday. He was very impressive. He looked like he was just playing with Pavlik. Had this feeling at the end that the judges were going to give it Pavlik because of the knockdown but its a good thing Martinez tried to end it and not take the last couple of round off.

Martinez is a coordinated fighter to say the least...Everything he does seems to be as perfectly calculated as it can get......IMO the martinez williams fight should have been a draw.....Martinez is no joke...

Good fight and great win for Martinez. I thought Pavlik was in control of the fight around 7 and 8, but he got caught with a great shot that opened up the cut. I think it might have turned out a bit differently had that not happened, but you never know. I wouldn't mind seeing it again.

damn that was a great fight.

martinez was winning easy first four rounds, then pavlik seemed to figure out martinez and was picking off his shots. pavlik won all the middle rounds, scored that knock down and martinez started to look like he was crumbling.

Then martnez landed some nice combo's around round 9, saw the blood and simply fucked pavlik up. i cant believe the doctor didnt even once look at kelly, he was bleeding bad.

good fight, entertaining. won some money, cant ask for anything more. feel bad for pavlik though, he is one tough some of a bitch.

side note: kelly weighed 180 pounds on fight night, that's crazy. I doubt he'll ever fight at 160 again.

Arum & Pavlik's people aren't going to enforce the clause. It'd be the dumbest move they can do.
yeah I doubt they will, I think pavlik is moving to 168. It also looked to me like pavlik may have broke his jaw, the way it was looking towards the end of the fight and it was trembling, looked all sideways. plus those cuts he might be out of commission for 6 months at least. I think williams vs martinez is going to happen next and pavlik will fight someone at 168 once he's better. What sucks for pavlik is he's a natural 168 pound fighter but the talent is too deep for him at that weight class, he can't beat the elite guys.
