The reason Rusian got so outworked is cuz dude is 4 inches taller. Rusian has improved since his 1st loss. I dont buy the fact that anyone can outbox him like this if they have the skills, he will stop most fighters that dont have such a reach advantage.
Here's the problem. Ruslan is fighting a taller fighter, but the taller fighter isn't in the middle of the ring or really using his jab as much as you would think a taller fighter with a longer reach would so that is Ruslan's fault. If you're gonna fight in the inside, against the taller fighter, work the body. Where was his body work?

I don't think anyone that can box beats him. I've seen Algieri before and the great unknown was how would he react to pressure. I even said before the fight that if he could deal with his pressure he'd give Ruslan problems. I do think anyone with very good boxing skills AND can deal with pressure beats Ruslan more often than not, he's exciting to watch but he's extremely one dimensional.

The only thing I see that he's gotten better at since his FNF days is cutting off the ring, but he's still the same guy and will always be that. If they watched any kind of tape they should have stayed away from Algieri, no one would say he's ducking because no one really knows who the hell he was before this and he could've fought someone tailored to his style in this "stay busy" fight.

Yeah it's tough to say how much better Ruslan has got. I never thought he would make it past headlining FNFs, I just thought he was a tough, fun guy to watch, but ver limited. Then of course he nearly killed Bradley and destroyed Alvarado. Looked like a beast and gained tons of respect and some fame. But what did we really learn from those fights if we truly think about it?

Another guy who has exploded on the scene recently after looking pretty damn ordinary is Shawn Porter. Not sure I believe he's improved that much either.

Ha, what's funny about Porter with me is early on I thought he was gonna make something happen, the midway through I figured I was wrong and it'd be a good opponent type for guys coming up and now he's looking pretty good so I don't know what the hell to think about him.

Been looking at other boxing forums and seeing most people score it 114-112 for Rusian. I knew i had it right. But lol @ the fight being in Algieris hometown wtf is that? They couldnt fight in Siberia so they go to the challengers home. No way the judges were biased though on close rounds lol. None of the people that scored the fight for Algieri can even give an official score, what does that tell you?

I think 2 of the judges only could see out of 1 eye also. Algeria would have had to win 9 rounds to win I believe. Stupid fucken idiots. lol @ Algieri landing 177 power punches, didnt know love taps counted
What fight was HBO's judge watching. Even if you thought Ruslan won it was a very close fight. I thought Algeri did enough to win the fight

Normally Kellerman can acknowledge pure boxing ability and gives boxers their credit. But for whatever reason last night HBO guys seemed to be judging the fight like it was the Strong Man competition. They kept referencing how hard Ruslan's punches were and nothing more. I thought Provodnikov was gonna murder ol boy BUT instead I got to see a new Paulie Maliggnagi. He boxed his ass off and dare I say it, Algieri looked Ali-esque! He was floatin, jabbin, stingin, movin. You can't tell me he hasn't patterned his style off the Sugar Ray's etc, just he doesn't have the same power.

He kept Ruslan honest the whole fight after he got dropped. Ruslan doesn't deserve the belt if he only wants to fight boxers w/ a style that cater to him. That'd be like a football team refusing to play a rush-only approach cuz they have a soft front 7.

Last night was an all American feel good story but even better a recognition of the lost science of Boxing. When boxing beats brawling its the way its supposed to be. The only ppl who lose are those "boxing fans" who only watch for KO's. Kinda like a basebal fan who cant assess talent unless they see a homerun, let alone a pitchers duel or small ball

nice i was looking at a different site its still funny to me people dont even know how many rounds to score for Algieri for him to have won that fight. I bet most didnt even count they just said oh hes outboxing Rusian pretty well, he won the fight. It dont work that way. Also Algieri didnt do enough to win the last 2 rounds maybe even the last 3 which was mentioned a lot on the site i was looking at

It was at Barclays, of course Algieri was gonna win. All he had to do was survive the fight. On boxingscene they have the scorecards up and all I'm thinking is they had a complete shutout for Algieri and that was not the case at all. There were plenty of times when Ruslan had him on the ropes taking heavy body shots and Algieri was taken back and literally leaned on the ropes for dear life. Now you are gonna watch Algieri vs Danny Garcia for a unification bout after Danny said he was gonna jump to 147.
