It seemed to me like Gamboa was going to catch Crawford sooner or later with one of those right hands, or they were going to add up. But maybe Crawford has a sick chin or Gamboa doesn't have the same pop at 135
He did catch him with one, wobbled him then proceeded to get knocked out.

As for FOTY I'd agree this was the best fight I've watched this year. Better than Lucas/Molina because of the quality of Crawford & Gamboa and the fight they produced.

That was a tune up then turned out to be a thrilling fight, this was a good fight between 2 top fighters that turned out to be a great fight. I'll always give the edge to better fighters putting together this type of fight.

Probably a little bit of both. I mean Crawford was 152 pounds tonight, but Gamboa clearly still hits hard 135, he took some shots that hurt him but fought smart when he was hurt, unlike Gamboa who was incredibly reckless when he got hurt.

1. Zewski won his bout so that is the most important thing.

2. Props to Crawford. This fight is a very strong contender for FOTY.

3. Don't blame Fiddy cent/50 Cents for Gamboa being knocked around. If it weren't for him Gamboa would be still stuck in limbo or on Real Fights so miss me with all of that.

4. The ref of the fight before the main event is a SHIT REF.

He wouldn't be stuck in anything. I'm not blaming 50 Cent more than I'm blaming Gamboa for all the nonsense that happened and then signing with 50 Cent. If you're a name fighter you don't sign with an up and coming promoter. Gamboa isn't trying to cut a record, he's trying to fight.

50 Cent may turn out to be a big promoter that gets his guys big fights on a regular basis but he's not that guy now.

.
What? Top Rank had Gamboa vs Brandon Rios set. Since he's signed with 50 cent, his had two fights in over two years and both were bad fights for Gamboa. 50 has done absolutely nothing for Gamboa. It's not 50s fault, he intends well, but he's a small time promoter with no experience. He doesn't have the influence or resources that a big time promoter does, like TR.

Listen, if it weren't for his association with 50 the guy would be stuck in limbo and not too many people except for the diehards and people who actually follow the sport would know about him. As for TR, he is the one who pulled out of the fight, 50 had nothing to do with that. Like I said, the guy would be in limbo if it weren't for him.

He signed with 50 because he was in a dispute with TR and then the contract was bought out. And you just hit it, he is a no name fighter and his association with 50 Cent allowed more people to know about him. There is no reason to not sign with an up and coming promoter if that up and coming promoter is doing everything right business wise. He is providing him with good resources, good caliber matches up to this point, etc. It was up to Gamboa to seize it and he didn't.

Everyone can't start at the top or just jump in with the big fish.

His dispute with Top Rank came from 50 cent and Mayweather, whom Gamboa was hanging out with. 50 cent paid Top Rank over a million dollars to buy out his contract.

Again, Gamboa had Brandon Rios set. If Gamboa whooped the then undefeated Rios it would have bern huge for his career.

Regardless, what has 50 cent done for Gamboa? This was a horrible match up for him I have no clue why 50 would put him in such a tough high risk low reward fight unless he simply couldn't get any other opponents since 50 is so small time.

50 cent has basically tanked Gamboa's career man. If he didn't sign with him, we would've had Rios/Gamboa which on paper, is a much better fight than the one we saw tonight, and likely would've made him more money. He's also only fought twice since like 2011.

Boxing just doesn't work like that man. Certain promoters have strangle hold over networks and in turn control most of the big fights that take place. Make no mistake this card tonight had nothing to do with 50 Cent, this was a Top Rank promotions card but on by them, simple as that. I'm not an Arum supporter but Gamboa is known to be a hard guy to work with, just look at how many trainers he went through. Bob had him steadily on HBO and had his career going in the right direction with a Rios fight looming.

50 Cent hasn't gotten anyone that didn't know who Gamboa was to know about Gamboa. Gamboa signed with a guy that apparently had no major network contacts and it hurt his career.

Again, blame Gamboa. If Floyd and 50 were in his ear he should have waited until they had all their paperwork straight and then he should have signed. He didn't do his homework, but still, he is in a better position now then he was years ago and he didn't seize it.

Blame Gamboa for that.

He got him a match with a champion and it was televised on HBO. That is better than fighting a tomato can on Real Fights.
