I've been a pretty avid boxing fan for over 10 years now, and if there's one thing I've learned, do not believe a damn word that Oscar De La Hoya or Bob Arum says. They both operate under the "I was lying yesterday but I'm telling the truth today" principle.

In other words, I'll believe it when I see it.
Yeah but the difference with this time is Richard Schaefers comments, talking about Oscar can fire me if he doesn't like how I run things etc.

Ouma Jailed: KO's Male For Alleged Gay Advances
Click Here To Email Printable version Search BoxingScene Database*

By TMZ

Former*champion Kassim Ouma was arrested for battery in L.A. on Friday -- after knocking out a man who was allegedly making gay advances toward him ... TMZ Sports has learned.

Law enforcement sources tell us ... the former IBF junior middleweight champion is telling investigators ... he was hanging out in Hollywood early Friday morning when he struck up a conversation with a guy he just met.

Ouma says the two went back to the other man's home for a drink ... where the guy allegedly made a pass at the boxer.

We're told ... Ouma claims he politely declined multiple advances ... but says when he got up to leave, the guy made one final move -- and Ouma shoved him away.

The altercation then escalated ... with Ouma allegedly knocking the guy out cold.

Cops were called to the scene -- where the victim was treated and transported to a nearby hospital.

Ouma was ultimately arrested for felony battery causing great bodily harm.

We tried to contact Ouma for comment -- but he's still behind bars.
Clearly, the guy weighed 140lbs or less. Ouma hasn't knocked out anyone above 154 in years lol

Robert Guerrero-Yoshihiro Kamegai in Play For 6/21

According to Bob Santos, co-manager of former multi-division champion Robert “The Ghost” Guerrero (31-2-1, 18 KOs), there are ongoing discussions to face Japan's Yoshihiro Kamegai (24-1-1, 21 KOs) on June 21, potentially at the StubHub Center in Carson, California. It would be Guerrero's first fight since last May's decision loss to Floyd Mayweather Jr. Kamegai has won two in a row, by knockout, since losing a ten round decision to Johan Perez last June, also in Carson.

Another 3 Mayweather fighters test positive. Chris Pearson, Lanardo Tyner, Luis Arias fail drug tests on Feb. 28 Mayweather Promotions show.
DUDE!!! WTH????????? There needs to be an investigation into this crap. He should be on the verge of losing his promoters license by now with as high of a percentage of his fighters that have been failing random tests. So much for cleaning up the sport.

I guess two were for weed the third is not stated.

Still not a good look that half his stable failed drug tests.

JLeon Love, Mickey Bey, Pearson, Arias, Tyner. You don't see that happen often.
I figured at least a couple of these were for weed, but athletes that are open about marijuana use typically end up having a bust of a career anyways.

But some of his fighters have tested positive for banned substances that weren't weed if I remember correctly.

Mayweather Eyes Dropping Golden Boy if Schaefer Goes

By Rick Reeno

WBC welterweight champion Floyd Mayweather Jr. chimed in on the internal rift in Golden Boy Promotions between CEO Richard Schaefer and company President Oscar De La Hoya.

Golden Boy has co-promoted Mayweather's last nine fights. They will co-promote, along with Mayweather Promotions, Floyd's fight on Saturday night against Marcos Maidana at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.

For several months, there has been tension between Schaefer and De La Hoya regarding the direction of their company.

If Schaefer is fired from his position or leaves, Mayweather is more than happy to hire him.

"Richard knows there is always a home over here. We would love to work with him hand in hand. If he has any problems over there. That's the company that we know Richard Schaefer built. Richard and Leonard [Ellerbe] work hand in hand. We're working hand in hand already. We would love to work with Richard. He is a great guy, a great father," Mayweather said.*

"Richard knows the door is always open, we look at him as family. We're stronger together than apart. And I think we are going to continue to build with each other and grow with each other."

And Mayweather also made it clear that if Schaefer leaves his working relationship with Golden Boy was likely over - which is no surprise because Mayweather hasn't exactly been on friendly terms with De La Hoya.

"Probably not, probably not [regarding working with Golden Boy is Schaefer leaves]. The reason why I'm working with Golden Boy is because of Richard Schaefer," Mayweather said.

Where Are The Pay Per View Numbers for Pacquiao vs. Bradley 2?

Pacquiao Bradley 2 Pacquiao vs. Bradley 2 timothy bradley manny pacquiao By Don Ech: We are now two weeks out since the Manny Pacquiao vs Timothy Bradley 2 rematch and still there are no pay per view numbers out from anyone. Bob Arum of Top Rank Promotions said they would be releasing the numbers already and still nothing. It seems like every time Manny fights it’s like pulling teeth just to see how well he did via pay-per view, now many will say “who cares about pay – per view numbers” and the answer is “ We Do “ the real boxing fans.

Pay-Per View buys are a tool that a fighter can use to negotiate his pay and his value to a fight at the negotiation table. Pay Per view buys lets non boxing fans know who is popular and who is not which in turns causes them to spend their hard earned money to also fuel the sport from time to time.

Pay-Per View money is also another source of money on top of the guaranteed purse that each fighter receives so when you say “who cares about ppv” once again “We Do “… Now just last year every Manny Pacquiao fan would scream from the roof top that he and he alone was the PPV King or boxing’s “BIGGEST DRAW “and everyone was beneath him including Floyd Mayweather Jr.
Many Boxing sites were flooded with Articles stating that Manny Pacquiao was the biggest PPV attraction which demanded the idea among a host of other things that he deserved a 50/50 split with Floyd Mayweather Jr. However at the end of the day there is a popular saying “

It is alarming to see that not only do we not have the Pay-Per View numbers for Pacquiao vs Bradley 2 after two weeks already, but on top of that absolutely NO ONE is even talking about it or even asking about it or even writing anything about it like ESPN, Yahoo Sports, The Ring and yet when Floyd Mayweather had his lowest Pay-Per View Draw against Robert Guerrero 875,000 buys the writers everywhere had a field day writing how he was in a decline.

We do know now though that Pacquiao vs Rios did 475,000 which was his recent fight before Bradley and we do know that whatever the real Pay-Per View number is Pacquiao vs Bradley 2 is Manny Pacquiaos lowest gate sale in his last 8 fights.

Broner: I’ll fight Pacquiao
April 30th, 2014 | Post Comment - 120 Comments

manny pacquiao adrien broner (Photo credit: Esther Lin/Showtime) By Chris Williams: Adrien Broner (27-1, 22 KO’s) is once against telling the media that he’d very much like to get a fight against former 8 division world champion Manny Pacquiao (56-5-2, 38 KO’s) if Pacquiao’s promoter Top Rank will let him get a shot at the 35-year-old Filipino star. Broner says in jest that he would pull out of his fight against Carlos Molina (17-1-1, 7 KO’s) for this Saturday and face Pacquiao instead if they let him get that fight.

“Where they at? Top Rank, they promoter, Pacquiao. We’ll fight Pacquiao,” Broner said to the media on Tuesday. “I’ll stop this fight [Carlos Molina] to fight Pacquiao. What would I got to do?”

Broner has made pretty good money during his 6-year pro career, but he’s not made the huge money that the typical opponent of Pacquiao’s make.
Broner would obviously like to get the money that he’d receive by fighting Pacquiao, as well as the attention from boxing fans. If Broner were able to take Pacquiao’s scalp, he’d likely get a rematch with him and make even more money. Even if Pacquiao’s promoter Bob Arum chose not to have Pacquiao fight Broner in a rematch, Broner’s popularity would skyrocket. He’d be right back where he was before his loss to Marcos Maidana last December, with many boxing fans seeing him once again as the guy to take over the sport once Floyd Mayweather Jr. retires in a year or two.

Arum would likely let Pacquiao fight Broner if Golden Boy Promotions CEO Richard Schaefer would agree to the fight. Broner might have to convince Schaefer and his adviser Al Haymon to let him take the fight with Pacquiao, but it’s a doable fight. Broner has a lot of pull with Golden Boy, and he can probably get his way if he pushes them really hard. After all, the last thing Golden Boy wants is for Broner to walk away after his contract with them expires. They need to keep Broner happy. The one that that will keep a Broner vs. Pacquiao fight from taking place is the network obstacles. Broner fights on Showtime, whereas Pacquiao fights on HBO. That’s something that might prove impossible for Broner to get around in order to get the Pacquiao fight.

I think Broner would give Pacquiao a lot of problems with his power and his defensive skills, and I can see this talented fighter catching Pacquiao with something big and knocking him out the same way Juan Manuel Marquez did. Pacquiao’s chin still seems a little shaky a year and a half later, as we saw in his last fight against Tim Bradley. Pacquiao was stunned by a shot from Bradley in the 4th round of that fight. Bradley isn’t known for his punching power, yet he had Pacquiao looking queasy after eating a right hand. Broner would need to sit down on his single punches, and focus on hitting Pacquiao as hard as he can with counter shots. Pacquiao, with his wide open offense, would create a lot of opportunities for Broner to hit him with hard counter shots, and it might be a matter of time before Broner knocks him out cold the way Marquez did. I rate Broner as being a better puncher than Marquez, and we saw what Marquez did to Pacquiao

Chavez Jr: No Top Rank Extension Unless I'm Paid Right

By Rene Umanzor

Former WBC middleweight champion Julio César Chávez Jr. is refusing to sign a contract extension with longtime promoter Top Rank, because the Mexican star indicates that he's not being properly compensated for his fights. He says the extension provided is lacking the money that he feels is adequate for a fighter of his caliber.

Top Rank is trying to finalize a fight on July 19th with Gennady Golovkin, but the fight can't happen unless Chavez signs the extension.

"They want to make me sign an extension of my [promotional] contract, but they are not giving me the money that I'm actually worth to fight. They have never showed me numbers that I generate and they also want to force me into an [extension of] three fights for less money than I'm being offered elsewhere," Chavez said.

"All I ask is that there is no extension and I'm paid what I should be, [given] the percentage that I deserve. I am open to work with Top Rank, as long as they want to work with me one hundred percent, fight-by-fight."

"My father was not very well taken care of [during his career]. He is very proud of me because I'm making these decisions, and he has supported me. We talked about it, because he doesn't want me to take the same abuses."
