I love it! Stevensons camp is providing emails and specific details not contrived madness and one shots.

HBO dropped the ball like I initially said so the claims that he ducked or that Haymon was the cause are unfounded.
Doesn't really prove anything here, only that Stevenson was asking for more money before he officially announced Haymon as his new manager (how long were Stevenson and Haymon talking prior to them making it official? No one knows). We also don't know what money Showtime is offering, other than his tune up fight coming up. Nor do we have any dollar figures on what the three fight HBO deal is. No details on money, only the favorable split team Stevenson agreed to. Duva's move next...

Wrong. The article Trips posted explains it. Stevenson not agreeing to a multifight deal and only wanting Fonfara? Lies. Haymon being responsible? Lies.

Shaw Furious: Curtis Stevens is a Fraud if No Rematch!

PHILADELPHIA - Tonight at the Liacouras Center in Philadelphia, PA, Gary Shaw Productions middleweight contender Tureano Johnson (14-1, 10 KOs), was robbed of his opportunity to continue fighting with Curtis Stevens (27-4, 20 KOs) when referee Gary Rosato prematurely stopped the bout at the 2:09 mark of the tenth and final round.

Johnson, who controlled the action early on, got off to a great start and mounted a considerable lead against Stevens's midway through the bout. As the fight entered the final rounds, Johnson continued to stand his ground and win rounds as both fighters were going toe to toe. Entering the tenth and final round, Stevens, who was clearly down on the scorecards, landed a nice left hook that slowed Johnson down, and the referee halted the bout prematurely. Tureano Johnson was clearly ahead on the scorecards and had plenty of life left to finish the bout before the referee stopped the action. When the bout was stopped, boos from the crowed were heard throughout the arena, validating a premature stoppage.

"I'm outraged that my fighter Tureano Johnson was robbed of his ability to finish the fight." said Gary Shaw. "Johnson clearly could have continued on. Stevens is nothing. Johnson was winning every round. I'm going to protest this premature stoppage and demand an immediate rematch. To rob a fighter like Johnson got robbed tonight is preposterous. With what Johnson gave the fans tonight, he should have at least been able to finish the fight. I'm beside myself with this decision."

"I wanted to come out tonight and give the fans an all action war." said Tureano Johnson. "My game plan was to come right at Stevens and bring the fight to him. I did exactly what I wanted to do and I was winning the fight convincingly. I have a great chin. When he landed that left hook in the final round, I was rocked, but I was ready to continue. I was robbed by the referee tonight and the fans should rally behind me to command an instant rematch. My message to Curtis Stevens is...you better not run from the rematch, because if you do, the fans will know you're a fraud."

Team Rigondeaux To Frampton: Forget Leo, Fight Us!

By Edward Chaykovsky

Gary Hyde, the manager for WBA/WBO super bantamweight champion Guillermo Rigondeaux (13-0, 8 KOs), wants WBC #1 mandatory challenger Carl Frampton (18-0, 13 KOs) to forget about facing WBC champion Leo Santa Cruz in the United States. He says Rigondeaux, who previously fought in Belfast, is wiling go give Frampton the hometown advantage.

"We didn't want to distract Carl Frampton in the run up to tonight's fight in Belfast," Hyde said on the social networks. "Rigo will return to Belfast and put both his world titles on the line against Carl. Carl is without a doubt one of the top 122lb fighters in the world and very worthy of a crack at both of Rigo's titles. Forget crossing the Atlantic to face Santa Cruz. Let's do it in Belfast. El Chacal Vs The Jackal. What a Fight!"

The fight is a long shot. Frampton worked very hard to get in line for a WBC mandatory eliminator, which he won earlier today with a two round stoppage of former two-division champion Hugo Cazares (40-8-2, 27 KOs).

Arreola Plans To Press Stiverne From Opening Bell

"I want to dedicate my fight to Jose Sulaiman," said Chris ‘Nightmare’ Arreola (36-3, 31KOs), who's ready to contest the WBC heavyweight title against Bermane Stiverne (23-1-1, 20KOs) on May 10 in Los Angeles.

“I’m in shape I sparred strong. I’m in the best condition ever. The fight will be for me, my family, Mexico and Mr Sulaiman. I want to dedicate my fight to Jose Sulaiman” he stressed.

Arreola knows that trim is important, and no short cuts are acceptable, in order to gain his slice of the triumph.

“I won’t be fighting in 242 pounds nor 237 pounds. I want to press Stiverne from round one throughout. Bermane is a good fighter who moves a lot in the ring, which is why I have to be in tremendous condition.

“I’m in better shape, I’m mentally stronger. In the first fight with Bermane he broke my nose in the third round, the pain was unbearable, and that affected my performance, said Arreola.”

Virgil Hunter Blasts Freddie Roach Over His "Haterism"

By Rick Reeno

Virgil Hunter, trainer of Andre Ward, Amir Khan and numerous others, reached out to BoxingScene.com to respond to some of the recent statements that are being circulated in the press, from Hall of Fame trainer Freddie Roach.

In an interview with Gareth Davies of The Telegraph, Roach unexpectedly criticized Hunter as a trainer and made negative statements about his work with Khan. The British star was trained for several years by Roach, but two years ago he left Roach's Wild Card Gym and retained the services of Hunter.

"I wasn't overly impressed with him [against Julio Diaz in Sheffield last year]. The greatest defensive coach in the world must not be doing his job. They make this guy [Virgil Hunter] the best defensive coach in the world because he has Andre Ward. He did not make Ward; Ward made him," Roach told the paper.

Hunter tells BoxingScene he was "very disappointed" with the statements. In the opinion of Hunter, Roach makes these types of statements because he doesn't understand what it takes to make a fighter "from the bottom-up." Lately, Hunter says Roach has been attacking anyone and everyone, whether it's in print or in person.

"It's truly a disappointment that a man can be in the frame of mind to talk down about an ex-fighter of his, who made a decision that it was time to go if he was going to continue in his career. I think what Freddie needs to understand is, me and Amir have been together for two fights and two fights is not long enough to clean up the mess that he left with the eight fights, because it was quite obvious that he didn't address any of the flaws in those eight fights. I'm not saying that he couldn't fix them, but he didn't address them," Hunter told BoxingScene.com.

"I come from a fraternity of coaches who started from the bottom-up. And I'm talking about Naazim [Richardson], Barry [Hunter], Mike Stafford, Kevin Cunningham, Leon Lawson...guys who know what it is to start a fighter out from the root to the fruit. The comment he made about Andre making me....it was irresponsible. It was what we call in hood, on a scale of 9 to 10, of haterism. Andre is my godson. He started boxing at 9-years-old, so certainly he didn't make himself. And he certainly didn't make me. I laid the foundation, I gave him the philosophy and I instilled the work ethic, Once that was set, he took it to the next level. He took what I gave him and took it to the next level. Andre will tell Freddie to his face that he didn't make me."

"I don't know if he would understand because [Roach] never started from there. He doesn't know what it is to fight for trophies. He doesn't know what it is to have a twelve-year-old kid and go up and down the country to tournaments. He doesn't know anything about that. Those are the development stages. What you see today are years of hard work. Andre wasn't handed to me or gift-wrapped to me. We did it together."

"If you look at some of the other guys I got coming up, like Brandon Gonzales, who is number one in the IBF now. He started boxing at 20-years-old and he is a number one contender under the IBF and one of the best offensive and defensive fighters out there. Andre is champion, number two in the world pound-for-pound behind Floyd and also number two, behind Floyd, with connect percentage and his connects against percentage.

"I have the last [American] gold medalist and that's an accomplishment. I have a world champion who would wipe out everybody in his gym, period....everyone from heavyweight on down. They will need a body bag at the Wild Card if I brought him. There would be body bags all over the Wild Card, from heavyweight on down, if I brought him. Freddie just needs to stay looking inward and realize that he has a lot of things that he needs to overcome, like hiding behind stuff and getting along with people."

"Jorge Linares, I thought he was a superb boxer, and what happened to him under Freddie's watch? He needs to stay in his lane and accept what the people give him. He needs to understand that there is a fraternity of coaches who respect what each other do because we've been through it. It's impossible for him to understand that journey, so since he doesn't understand it he shouldn't make comments on other people's situations.

"Lately, every time we turn around he's saying something negative about somebody, or getting in some type of altercation, whether it's slandering someone or something racial. He needs to tone it down, because I know quite a bit about him and he wouldn't want me talk about the things that I know. He needs to understand that Amir Khan is over here now and we have a great relationship and we believe in each other. If we fall short, we won't fall short because we didn't try. If he has a problem with Amir, then he should take it up with Amir. He should keep my name out of his mouth."

"Let Freddie make comments after I have eight fights with Amir. Amir chose to leave him and made a decision on who he wanted to go with. Freddie has to live with that. I'm going to let him off easy this time. But if he comes back again, I'm going to have to open up a little bit more."

Tszyu: I Agree With Bradley, Pacquiao No Longer Hungry

By Edward Chaykovsky

Hall of Famer Kostya Tszyu is eager to watch this coming Saturday's rematch between WBO welterweight champion Timothy Bradley and eight-division beltholder Manny Pacquiao. The fight takes place at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas and HBO Pay-Per-View will carry the action. Bradley won the first meeting, in June of 2012, with a controversial twelve round split decision.

While Tszyu views it as a "50-50" fight, he agrees with Bradley's belief that Pacquiao has lost his hunger and killer instinct.

"I agree with what Timothy said, that Manny Pacquiao is not hungry anymore. You can’t be on top of your game if you’re not hungry anymore. I lost my hunger in the last couple of weeks of my fights because when you achieve everything in sports, it’s so hard to push yourself over and over the limit," Tszyu said to On The Ropes Boxing Radio.

"That’s the thing, Manny did tremendous, became a legend in the ring, but he lost a bit of hunger. Maybe the loss against Timothy may help him to find his hunger, maybe, you never know. Timothy is still a young fighter and still got lots of goals ahead of him and for Manny there’s just one thing, to prove that he’s the best, only one."

Nacho Still Not on Board With Pacquiao-Marquez 5

By Salvador Rodriguez

Nacho Beristain, trainer of former four division champion Juan Manuel Marquez, is still not happy with the idea of facing Manny Pacquiao for a fifth time.

Marquez is facing Mike Alvarado on May 17th. The winner has been guaranteed a shot at the WBO welterweight title, which is going to be contested next week as Tim Bradley defends the belt against Pacquiao in Las Vegas.

Nacho sees no reason for a fifth contest, feeling that Marquez closed that chapter when he knocked Pacquiao out cold in the sixth round of their 2012 fourth meeting.

"I do not like the fight, it is not attractive, and Juan did what he had to do, he showed how the Mexicans get it done, he showed his followers around the world who he is and that's enough. If Pacquiao beats Bradley, we'll see what Juan decides, but again he could have the option of fighting for a different title," Nacho said.

Canelo’s manager says Erislandy Lara a strong candidate for next fight
April 7th, 2014 | Post Comment - 25 Comments

Canelo Lara Canelo vs. Lara saul alvarez erislandy lara By Dan Ambrose: Eddy Reynoso, the trainer and manager for former WBA/WBC light middleweight champion Saul “Canelo” Alvarez (43-1-1, 31 KO’s), is saying that WBA junior middleweight champion Erislandy Lara (19-1-2, 12 KO’s) is one of the leading candidates for the red-haired Canelo’s next fight in July. Carlos Molina and James Kirkland are also candidates, however.

“I can tell you that Lara is the most viable,” Reynoso said to ESPN Deportes. “He is the most feasible. I think it would be an interesting fight for all people. Carlos Molina is on the move, and the same with Kirkland. But Lara is the best, and is a clear advantage over the others.”

I’ll believe it when I see it, as far as team Canelo setting up a fight against the Mayweather-like Lara. This Cuban is too much like Mayweather, and I can’t see Canelo accepting a fight against him.

Canelo said on his twitter: “My next fight will be on July 12 at the MGM in Vegas Nevada. We have several options as rival, and one of them is the first and Lara. I was offered and accepted and we just need to stop much talk.”

Lara has a title defense against Ishe Smith on May 2nd, but if he gets through that fight with a victory and without any injuries, then he could have a chance at getting the Canelo fight.

Canelo’s next fight is being planned for July 12th, which means Lara would have a little over 2 months to get ready for that fight if he’s the one selected. That’s no big deal for the Cuban star, because he’s got the kind of talent to take on the 23-year-old Canelo a week after his fight against Smith. But if Lara does suffer a cut in the Smith fight, he’s not going to have much time for it to heal before the July 12th fight against Canelo.

So basically a cut for Lara in the Smith fight would keep him from getting the Canelo fight in July unless it were a small cut. That would be a huge disappointment for Lara to miss out on the Canelo fight in July, because he’s been chasing Canelo for ages for a fight without luck. It would be terrible for Lara to miss out on the fight because of an injury, because there’s no telling whether Canelo would have the desire to fight him in the future. Things could change for him.

Canelo could lose to the winner of the Miguel Cotto vs. Sergio Martinez fight, and/or Canelo might lose interest in fighting Lara if he looks too good in beating Ishe Smith. I think it’s more of the latter than the former, because Canelo would have a good chance of beating Cotto. I think Sergio would beat Canelo by out-boxing him, but a fight between them likely wouldn’t happen until 2015 due to Sergio likely suffering new injuries in his fight against Cotto in June. Sergio is getting up there in age, and it seems like each time he fights, he ends up getting hurt to the point where he ends up missing a lot of time.

Canelo’s recent 10th round TKO win over Alfredo Angulo last March may have boosted his confidence enough to where he’s feeling like he could beat Lara. It was kind of sad to see Lara walk up to the podium at the post-fight press conference and end up getting told to “wait his turn” by Canelo when all he did was ask him for a fight.

The Lara Smith fight will not get cancelled. Its a signed deal for FS1 and the title is now on the line. Canelo wants to get him after the fight but that just won't happen. Im thinking Lara vs Floyd in September if he beats Maidana

Contrary to reports, heavyweight Ike Ibeabuchi remains in custody
The 41-year-old has been transferred from Nevada Department of Corrections to Washoe County Jail

FORMER heavyweight contender Ike Ibeabuchi was discharged from the Nevada Department of Corrections and transferred to Washoe County Jail on February 28 2014. Rumours had surfaced that the fighter – who last fought in 1999 when he beat Chris Byrd – had been released into society but he remains in custody.

His management team, Bill Hodge and John Wilkinson, remain hopeful that the 41-year-old will soon be released and will resume his boxing career.

The heavyweight was regarded as a future champion when he was active, but was imprisoned on sexual assault charges that date back to incidents in Las Vegas in 1999. He was denied parole in 2004, 2007, 2009 and 2012.
