I was thinking about buying an MPC 1000 but people complain
about MPC pads double trigger not less you hitem right.
Is this right? I cant see somebody pounding out part of 8 bar
sequence and the a snare or kick dubbing on you because you
didnt hit the pad right regardless of pad velocity and or poly or
mono presure settings in the MPC. If any body gots any insight
post up. Thanks in advance.

I have never heard anything bad about an MPC. The pad will only trigger twice...if you hit it twice. Seeing it's an MPC (I don't own one) I'm assuming there's a Pad Sensitivity setting somewhere to prevent slip ups like that from happening.

the 2000XL seems like a rip off for the price, the 1000 has just about the same shit and other cool features for like half the price. If I was to actually buy an MPC (probably never will) it would be a 2500. i just don't see the point in these things

yup, I got mine off craigslist for 1400, from some young ass kid, said his parents bought it for him and he never used it. I drove out to the bay at midnight to pick it up.

i saw a 4000 on craigslist for 1600 not too long ago. I just don't know if I have use for one or not. Its best to have sound mods, a gang of vinyl or a big sound bank handy before fucking with one of those. All I have is reason refils

there are alot of things I'd swoop before getting one of those, they are hip hop producer eye candy though (at least the 2500 and the 4000)

when sampling into a 1000,and a 2000xl you will hear a difference.that being said..being i own a 3000..if it were to get stolen....I would either get another 3000 or a 4000....alot of people get along fine without mpcs...then there are those that swear by them...I would never get an mpc just for the pads....I find working with an mpc3000 very easy ..enjoyable...I like how the drums sound...the lil bit of character it adds to samples.I like how it has 4 midi outs....wich I never tripped off..but I find it very valuable to me..I like how i just flip the on switch..load up a drum kit...and im ready to go....I customized mine..myself..i have a dark candy red paint and dark wood grain sides....Im saying this cause I have no letters..or #'s I have all buttons memorized(to an extent)...I find stopping and picking up a mouse..and finding where you wanna click...takes away from the fun....I just reach over hit a button,,Im gone...

So it will physically sound better or different if you make a beat out of one of these things as opposed to something else?

I'm just afraid to get one cuz if i do i think i'd have to revamp everything else around it

this is up for interpretation...I know guys who are gear junkies..and make beats on all and anything....and if they had to choose anything they say theyd hold on to there mpc and a keyboard....

I had a MPC2000XL last year around this time and i had no idea how to use it, so i sold it. Now i'm kicking myself in my head for selling it.

You can do alot on the MPC and i'm saveing my money up againg to buy one.

You can find a MPC2000XL with a shit load of Drum kits, Zip drive & the 8 studio inputs for $800 or less on ebay or craigslist.

I seen one on craigslist for $400

I love the feel of those bad boys though, I have a korg drum pad controller and I don't like how cheap the thing feels. I want to sell it and get the new one Akai is putting out. I just think i need more gear before I get an MPC like sound modules, lots of Vinyl, old CDs and tapes and shit for sampling purposes. On the cheaper ones don't you have to have to complete a whole beat before dumping it to another medium? I'd have to see a full on demo of one of these bad boys to hook me.

I ended up buying the mpc 1000 vs the 2500. First off I'm going say I'm a asr10 man and have been for 10 years, love it. But when I go to the studio and I live up stairs, carry that mother****** is a pain in the a**. Now learning that asr10 was hard for me. So I told myself this is it I ain't learning anything else. So I stuck with it and it worked for me. I would see mpcs almost at every studio I went to professional and non professional. Never touched one because I was stuck in that asr10 and nothing else mentality. But when they released that mpc 1000 for such a cheap price I was like let me check the specs. Come to find out it was like my asr10 but not as deep but the size of a laptop, witch I really liked. This was fine for me because I can still use my asr but have the mpc be the master. Now from my point of view I love the asr,but the mpc sequencer is so much easier way easier, but that comes with knowing the terminology and knowing how to build a song. The only thing that put me through a loop was the pads, wasn't used to it. But after a while its all good. So I was strap for cash at the Guitar Center its either the 1000 or the 2500, now keep in mine I'm coming from a asr10 carry it to different sessions, not less they had one. That 1000 look so tight, and he told me the new 1000 "black" 2.01 O.S does everything the 2500 does accept a couple of things. But you want have a cdrw I'm like oh well everything is computer based now anyways. So I got it and love it . They got a beta 3.4 O.S floating out there that does everything the 2500 does. But I'm a wait for Akia to release their version to make it official. So far so good, I'm loving it. The learning curve from 1-5 5 being the hardest I give it a 2.5. I hope this can help anybody else in their decision making on getting a mpc 1000 its not 4000 but it fits my needs. 1
