I just started a 9-5 style job and I've been listening to a couple stations (105.9 and 97.9 both Detroit). Anyway I never knew that the top rap stations in a major city like this can be so fucking shitty when it comes to the talking inbetween songs.
On 105.9 this morning they had so many facts messed up about the upcoming presidential election and they were basically saying, "yeah I heard dat" over and over..... or "isn't it true that . . . ." and as long as one person, most likely an idiot, would say, "yeah I think so..." the rest of the show it would be taken as a fact. One example was today Russ Parr (the host) was covering the fact that last night Bill O'Reilly's "The Oreilly Factor" he went after president bush for a few things, one being the bad job of intellegence and lack of WMD's. Anyway the whole 15 minute conversation delt with comments like this, "Oreilly is Bush's boy... we all know that..... why would he say that....." If you've got any clue, you know that's simply not true. Now c'mon.... I'm sure that a lot of these dumbasses who can't think for themselves are tuning in and taking this shit as news. It's not just that story either.... they'll have people on talking about every issue in the world and they sound terribly ignorant. My question is.... are all hip-hop stations like this ? I'm all for free speech, but mis-informing people on a daily basis just really doesn't seem right. This is honestly the first time in my life I've ever really listened to radio though, so I don't know
Ohh yeah and if you have something to say about O'Reilly..... don't say it here or you'll be assumed to be one of the idiots tuning in to these shows for your daily news
