I guess there's more people out there you are supposed to tip than I realized. I always knew you should tip your waiter/waitress. I learned when I was 16 that you should tip the pizza delivery guy/girl when I became one and because they have to use a lot of their money to pay for gas and engine repairs on their vehicle while performing their job.

I was just getting my car washed and saw the guy in front of me tip the guy wiping down his car. So I did the same and gave the guy $2. He said, "Thank you" and walked away. When I opened my trunk to get some things out that I had placed in there the guy comes walking back and starts wiping down the inside of my trunk. I wondered if he would have done that if I had not tipped him.

I also heard that you are supposed to leave a tip on your pillow when you check out of your hotel room for the maid, but I have not done that yet. Is there anyone else that you could/should tip?

You tip taxi drivers, waiters, and anybody with a tip jar. And some people do leave a tip for the maid, but I'm willing to bet that group is a minority.

I work in a restaurant, by the way, and it's always nice to tip the waiter at least 15%, even if they're a dick, because it's such a bullshit job and you never know what kind of crap they have to deal with outside the dining room. I don't work in the dining room myself, but I feel for those that do.

Most of my money made as a pizza delivery driver was off tips, they gave me 50cent a delivery but thats only a few bucks in the outcome...

I tip everyone, haha. That's why I am not allowed to go places.

We were at a chinese buffet and you get your own plates/food/etc, but the staff brings you drinks and takes away used plates. My friend said we didn't tip at the buffet because they don't BRING you food. But I felt like they were working too hard not to get a tip so I left one.

I am also a generous tipper ( Unless the service sucks.. in which case I am a nice tipper.) and I leave more than 15-20%. Why? Because serving people is hard and some people make pennies. And I figure if I am nice to them and tip them good, they may feel a little bit better later if they have an evil customer.

This thread reminds me of the beginning of "Reservoir Dogs".

Anyway.....I always leave a tip for anybody who deserves a tip.

i always tip fat............ 20-115% depending on the service.............. unless it sux in that case i tip 0

yo im with you on that one. shit i tip good when it's deserved even sometimes when they do a subpar job, but shit when the service is really shit, and i mean as shitty as can be. i tip a big fat 0. shit when i pay with my card and shit, i write the word ZERO on it. other than that i tip way more than i should, but hey sometimes the money is good and the service is at the same time.

i leave a tip at buffets, like dude said, they get your plates and bring you your drink, even just a dollar here and there.

Here's a question? Has you ever been serviced so bad that when you had the chance to walk on the bill you did?

How about takeout food? If your picking up some food "to go" are you supposed to tip? I always figured that you only tip if you are sitting down and dining in at the restaurant.

what about those fools that open the door for you to hop into a taxi? like in vegas, taxis already have a designated area to pick up people, so its not like dude is going out of his way for me to get a taxi. all he does is open the door. i could do that shit myself.
