so I got this laptop thats kinda fucked up, the screen won't stay still, but when you hook it up to a monitor everything is fine. I'm just wondering what are good programs for Windows? I hella want some sound applications like fruity loops or whatever that aren't on Mac. and whats with Vista? is shit compatible with it or what? should I upgrade?

Hook me up with whatever you feel every windows user should have (except for a hammer to smash their computer, I have that for windows already :classic:)

well for sound y would you want fruity loops, its like windows for OS's. just use reason, as far as recording you have a choice of sonar, pro tools, cubase or nuendo. vista is crap, govt has a backdoor in it that nsa said. and its bulky as fuck and most likely yours aint. as far as other apps depends on what you wanna do on it

vista is good on new higher end pc's. its ok on like year old models but anything computer over a year old wouldnt run vista properly. especially a older laptop.

windows is good becuase its easy to use and most people are familiar with it. and a major of the programs available run on windows.

oh yeah, I forgot I need good anti virus programs and all that either for free or for "free"

any other sound apps for windows you'd suggest? or want to give me? :cheeky:

fixed :lick:
well if you wanna make beats then reason, best you'll find on mac or windows i cant remember but like end of summer or something like that reason 4.0 is suppost 2 be dropping. recording wise kind of a toss up. i dont like pro tools too much bullshit and you can have a prefect verse your spitting and bam an error occurs, supposely in 7.3 they fix that but then you gotta buy there crappy hardware if you want it worth wild. IMO its garbage, but over half this industry dick ride em. i would say between Sonar 6 Producer Edition or Nuendo. whats good about sonar it runs on a 64 engine which means better head room for vocals. if you like Pro Tools HD then Nuendo does just about everything HD does. theres some settings gotta be done for making it better that most people dont realize about it. so it really depends on what your after more.

Avast! is the best you'll find for virus protection, home version is free and if you sign up they'll email you a key when you need 1. i dont use a firewall, for how im set up there aint no point in having 1, but my cousin uses comodo firewall, its highly recommand if your worried about that shit.

Vista is good
Seriously. My dad bought a laptop and it has Vista on it. I hated the fact that permissions are so tight on Vista. And some error coming up with ???????? all the damn time.

Another problem I had with Vista, is the fact that it locked some files to

Vista is a piece of shit and I still can't believe the only way to have DX10 on your machine, you have to have Vista. And I stress that everybody should look into Linux. Open source, a huge community, free to download and you can't get viruses and spyware.
