hip hop started with 2 elements. the dj and the MC. the beat and the rhymer. one couldn't exist without the other, both were art forms. have beats (in general) got more sloppy? has the introduction of cheap/free software (reason, fruity loops . . . ) created a hip hop/tecno generation of beat makers who cut and paste, no longer taking production as an art?

Who are the hottest beat makers/producers out today and what is it you like about their sound?

You forgot the Breaker, the Tagger & the Graffiti Artist.

Have beats gotten sloppy? Yeah, I think so, for the simple fact that alot of things are handed down at this point. Rappers, there were only a handful...now everybody & they Mama think they can rap or make beats (& with all this you've stated...yeah, anybody can put hands on it).

Don't get me wrong, there is tight production out there, but has yet to come to the forefront (meaning lot's of tight underground producers / rappers). Of course you also have the producers that drop an album / single & go a few times platinum (most of the time these mainstreamers are not supported by "REAL" MoFo's in the streets...most maintream artist / producers are considdered fake), but a few times platinum? LOL!!!! somebody's LYIN'!

Corprate America has just recently paid attention to the underground Cat slangin' his music through the internet. We are the reason most major label artist do not go platinum the first week (with the exception of a few). I'm talkin' about the underground music being something most people can relate to, not MoFo's pirating newly released material. People have taken notice of underground music. The Cd that your taking a chance on being weak, hella tight or the Homie finna blow up in the next year. Not the Cd you'll more than likely hear on the radio (clear channel) or find in the typical record store in a few years, the Cd that has only 1000-2000 copies floatin' around with no distributor.

Respect to the Pioneers out of the Bay Area who started doin' this in the early 80's, but like everything else it's been seen as "Yeah, the ghettos, the projects, people there are making music blah blah blah..." thorugh the eyes of America & been swept under the rug.

Here comes the internet, the computers, the access to burn Cd's the access to burn DVD's...ah, now Corprate America has felt their pockets picked, now they pay attention. Cd's have gone down in price as well as the movie theaters (in some citys), DVD's are low in price in most cases, why? they have no choice but to try and out bid the underground cat.

Trust me Homie, if some MoFo figured out a way for cars to run on some other substance other than gas...gas prices would come down, MoFo's be slangin' that shit at a much lesser price to get over & get rich.

It's the lesser known underground Cd people seek, you get it hands on from the artist himself (in most cases)...if you decline that purchase, you may never see that Cd again if Homie makes it big...bottom line, you never really know who your talking to.

Everybody wants they're own company, most do not want to sign to a major & get put on the shelf as lot's of artist have in the past. Reason? the underground cat for the most part is the guy pick pocketing the major labels pocket. It's the can't beat em' join em' & shut em' up syndrome.

Plain & simple the Game is saturated, everybody believing the same dream, but only the truly talented & the real at heart will make it.

F'sho...it's just my opinion on this matter. The second question? I don't really have an answer for it Mayne, too much shit out there claimin' the next biggest thing, but it's released & over hyped by people...for the most part, it ends up being aiight, but never really that hot. Most of us don't know how to market our product & we be killin' it Mayne.

How many times have you heard or read, "FEATURING THE HOTTEST SINGLE..." & ain't never even heard of Homie? I don't mean to sound all negative about it Mayne, but shit is played out. It's the oldest marketing sceme in the book, hype it up, but too many Cats sayin' the same thing about they product and ain't makin' a splash...just makin' ripples in the water.

Some threads on here got some deep comments & replies on em'. Everybody talkin' about support this & support that, but who gonna support mine? Show Luv 2 get Luv? It don't always work that way.

I'm suppose to go copp the latest Cd because they said or because I'm feeling it?

Like some of these threads have stated, some MoFo's are gonna have to hang it up and resort to a 9 to 5 (counting myself).

Fuck opinions & back & forth disagreements though...time will reveal.
