Jay Tee will always be one of my fav artists!
But no matter how much love people have for him or his music, people actually need to buy the music. Once people recognize artists are motivated by money, buying their albums will encourage more good music from them.
I know that I bought almost every CD from him, N2Deep, Latino Velvet, Baby Bash, and Potna Duece. Actually Jay Tee, where can I get both PD albums? One's been scratched beyond playable and the other one was jacked by a homie. Hit me on that dog.

to answer the question hed have to make alot more songs like baby girl on his cd im not sayin jay tee aint good enough to blow but it seems like all anybody wants to hear now is rappers singin to bitches on the radio. i actually like baby girl just cause of jay tee's verses but i would rather hear him and mac dre spit on the radio and i used to like beesh's music but i can honestly say now i dont there is a difference between his style on smokin nephew and velvetism. but shit i hear baby girl just as much as suga suga on 102.5 outta sac so he still gets love

It's gonna take a move to Texas like Bash did.......naw but fo real Jay Tee has already had his time with "Back to the Hotel" that shit used to be on Yo! MTV Raps countdown..........same thing will happen to Bash unfortunately because we all know how Bay artists get treated. E-40 should be way more respected but he isn't and he is the biggest thing out the Bay right now.

I was gonna bring up the same point about the N2Deep status< Bash will have to get to that level JTee has surpassed that, damb there platinum? that's not bad at all and "BACK 2 THE HOTEL" is also considered a CLASSIC RECORD in the Industry, me and my boy Big TEE from Sac listen to that shit all the time. "You got the black girl and have the white one" Classic shit folks.

What I don't get is how his n2deep sold nearly platinum and the next and other releases didn't get nowhere even near it???
Because to go platinum, you need mainstream acceptance, wich depends on MTV, major radio stations, etc. And that shit is tricky.
People nowadays call Sir Mix-A-lot a "one hit wonder" because of Baby Got Back. Wether you liked Mix or no, do you think it was his best song? No fucking way. You think his next album was weaker? Neither. It's all radio shit and politics. Record company could have fucked up also. What's sure is that major sales never depended on quality (even when the platinum artist did deserve it).
Least, that's how I see it.
If we can do something where artists blow up without compromising the quality, then I'll be happy.
The other thing is, people like to say that rap singles's gotta be about relationships. Shit that attracts females. But a lot of people don't listen to rap anymore or give no props to mainstream rappers precisely because that's all they hear. Whole new audiences could be reached if they gave a serious chance for something else than that pop type of shit.
Oh, and I heard somewhere that males just don't buy a lotta records nowadays, females do. That may contradict my last statement, but anyway, anyone who says that bootlegging shit won't hurt artists at all is lying- especially independent rappers. Wich doesn't mean the music industry isn't at fault-the quality of what's being put out nowadays is lower than ever, as it it's diversity. In other words, we always hear the same ol' shit on the radio. A lot of people don't get excited over music anymore, especially when they feel that buying an album is useless when they only get 2 or 3 cool songs on the cd. That's a complex issue, so I'll have to stop typing now or I might go on for a long ass time.
I'll just wish the best for Jay Tee, he deserves it. And we need to introduce as many people as possible to quality shit, because the radio won't do it.

He's overdue... But I don't know that his style necessarily fits in with the commercial
rap system. Honestly, I don't think his delivery is what the mainstream public
is looking for. To be a commercial success, he would have to smooth it out so that his voice and flow isn't so rough sounding. Look at some of the more recent commercial successes: Fabolous, Nelly, etc... They can be rapping about anything and radio will play their stuff because their voice and delivery are softer and smooth.

Anyways, best of luck to JayTee!

That's your opinion and thats coo, but why do you feel the need to post up something negative in every Jay Tee post on here?
