I personally like to buy all my equipment. That way I dont have to rely on anybody. You can find good deals on Ebay or Craigslist.

There are so many possible setups, its frustrating. Buy a cheap piece, like the Boss Dr. Groove drum machine, to see if you can even assemble a beat. If you cant do it on one of those, than your going to run into complications when trying to use a real piece of equipment like a RS-7000 or Akai MPC

givin up a list of equipment aint no recipe....you could have all the best shit in the world n if you dont know what you doin wit it you still gonna succ.....

i dont have shit no more as of now but i use the computer to run beat programs like fruity loops n reason......jus to make beats when im bored till i get my real setup...

we used to fucc wit:

E machines PC w/ 3ghz proccesor, 1 gb RAM, Soundblaster Audigy Soundcard wit midi, rca, xlr, optical and 1/4" line inputs n outputs (basically, you can plug anything in this shit.....there are better soundcards though if you wanna spend a lot of money)

Beheringer 8 Channel Mixer wit invisble mic pre's.....

Rode NT1 - A condenser mic (highly reccomended.....best mic you can get for under $500)

Korg Triton Studio w/ Moss Synth expansion

that was a pretty simple setup but it did the job very well.....only thing we didnt have yet was the right kind of monitoring system (speakers, soundproofed room with accoustic padding and such) which is extremely important when it comes to mixing and mastering....but you can always have that done by a pro if you prefer....

but yeah there are a million ways to go at it and you could spend a million dollars or jus 1000....its all on you and how much you really care about investing into your work.....
