I don't listen to 93.5 K-Day all day, but I turn it on about 5 times a day to see if I can catch a classic rap song. But it seems as if in the last week I have heard nothing but garbage. I don't even know what kind of music they are playing. It sounds really old, like from the early 80's. Most of them are songs I have never even heard before. Up until this point, they were mostly playing rap from the "Golden Age" (late 80's-early 90's). Did they change the type of music they are playing on the station now? Or am I supposed to be familiar with the songs they are playing now?

That's their regular format. Old school rap combined with todays music. They have a good mix of both. You probably tuned in everytime they took it back in the day. Greg Mack is in San Diego now on Z-90 , he used to be one of the dee jays on KDay in the 80's . I remember "The Mack Attack" and the 5' Oclock traffic Jam. Dre and DJ Yella used to rip shit for 30 minutes straight on the turntables. Some of the best mixes in West Coast history in my opinion.
Like 50 Cal said there will be a test, so study up!

The KDAY format is good most of the time. It's just that the new bullshit they try to force us with sticks out in contrast when hearing WestCoast classics we all know and love.

i moved to phoenix in the summer of 2005 and i was blown away when i heard this other station play funk gems all day. click on the link and then click on the listen live now banner...

when i moved back to cali in october, i wrote KDAY a long e-mail letter to funk up their format, L.A. mixmaster style, and sound like this one. i've noticed a couple of months later i got my wish. it doesn't hurt to call in to KDAY and tell them you don't like any of the songs they are playing. they really want to know what we think.
