i heard that ya boy charges $5,000 for a quick 16. if rappers can afford it then go for it, ya boy is one of the biggest names in the west right now

No way Ya Boy would generate $5000 in sales, or even come close to breaken even on that price

E-40 before the lil jon deal, he was doen some verses for $3000, I heard from some one, Mac Dre was chargen about $2500 before he passed

i know thats what i was saying, $5000 is WAY too much to charge for a verse that'll last like what? 40 seconds?

use the dollar a sale rule....

for every dollar the artist charges, are you going to get that many people to buy the album based on that...

works every time.
If you was to use that rule you wouldnt have any features on your album.. no bay rapper is going to help you sell 2-5k (thats what they ussually charge) just based on they name alone... a feature is just something to draw atttention.. the music still has to be good and you have to sell yourself.. i dont know too many people that actually BUY an album cuz of who is featured on it

there is your answer....a lot of the prices quoted here are "sucka prices" too. real artists dont pay that much. we just put out a double cd with:

fab
clyde carson
balance
furious
choppa young city
hoodstarz
and baby james

if i told you how much it cost total for features, you wouldnt believe me.....

i know i know.. i know it depends on who it is.. i know alot of rappers in general just put out those prices but most the times its negotiable.. but as an artist if you can get it why not right ? get ya money

high prices are to filter out wich artist take it serious and spend real money. if you dont take rapping serious enough to spend money they dont wanna be on your shit so they throw you a high number.
Spending that kind of money on a verse is for cats who can't hold their own OR people who already make bread. I've noticed about 9 times out of 10, a person with all those features, gets outshined on his own tracks every time. I will work with anybody for nothing if I respect them as an artist...doesnt matter if I'm underground or a signed artist with a huge name. I take music seriously, but I would never toss cats a couple g's to work with me unless it was going to help sales. Like, a Dr. Dre or somebody with major power in the industry.

Eminem will shoot beats and verses to anybody for nothing if he respects what they do...so why pay somebody all that money if they aren't even on that level?
