I think we basically want the bay to blow, but want the music that we're used to to remain the same. Sorta like when 50 came out in 2000 or whenever it was, it was street shit, but he didnt blow. Now it's singin and "Candy Shop" homo rap shit now that he's blown up. Could you imagine E-40 makin a song like that?
my thoughts exactly thats what bash felt like he had to do, cuz he aint have no better gimmick, but if the bay blows up im sure we will retain all credability, think about back in the day when the bay blew, it was, for the most part street shit, mac mall, dru down, ritchie rich, 40, 3x's, whoridas, quinn, etc all on BET with strait bay area turf shit nigga!!!!! my bad i got excited.
the only way the bay will blow up is when people actually go outside and cop a fucking album instead of trying to cop shit. You got to support the bay in order for it to blow up. The east/south are blowin up because people actually cop their albums even though they're shit is gonna be the death of Hip hop with they're stupid ass shit like Laffy Taffy.
IF the bay blows most folks wont bump the new shit cus its too mainstream. and if doesnt blow (which i highly think will happen) then you giong to hate every other region of music for another 10 years till we get another chance. does the cd you listen to have to be on the radio for you to like it? cant you listen to a cd and be like that was a good cd regradless if anyone else liked it or heard it?
if its how most people on here think, i feel that on a personal level and a fan, that my favorite artists are just that, mine, and the bay's...and most of them have made music for the bay, and u can feel it. i think the truth is, if someone were to "blow up" its gonna be someoone like a baby bash, whos probably gonna move somewhere else, have a little success based on his connections, what he looks like, and how mainstream his sound is. then he wont get any recognition for being from where he originally was.
as much as i like these artists, people like keak and quinn will never get REAL recognition if they go big, because people will be stuck on theyre music of the moment, not the past work they did, and they wont care about that shit. even though it may not be the best for the artist, some of the artists were just meant to be INDIVIDUAL INDEPENDENT BAY AREA artists. and to get out of that stigma, they'll have to change something to please someone else, and as a fan, i dont want that.
so have an unsigned artist go big, whos from the bay, who i know nothing about, so that me and all the other bay fans have a fresh slate with dood.
