dude u r trippin, that is definitely kaliko, no question about it....maybe it is a sample of an old school song, i dont know, that very well could be the case.. but best believe big krizz kaliko is talented enough to sing that sinatra-like chorus and in the same song keep up with the greatest rapper of all time, tecca n9na, in his rap flow, dude is one of the most all around talented cats in the music industry...real shit

you know the character Dave Chapell plays when he's trying to be a cracker with tons of powder on his face and he does that stupid ass imitation of "white people" .... anyway the hook reminds me of that character for some reason... fucked up

It is Kaliko singing......The melody is borrowed from SWAY orig a spanish song reinterprited & popularized by Dean Martin....most recently recorded by Michael Buble. One of my top 10 fav songs ever.

Here is an exerpt from wikipedia on SWAY

"Sway" is the English version of "Quien Sera", a 1953 Latin pop song with a mambo beat written by Mexican composer and bandleader Pablo Beltrán Ruiz. In 1954 the English lyrics were written by Norman Gimbel and recorded by Dean Martin (this recording reached #6 on the UK chart). Since then the song has been recorded and remixed by many artists including The Pussycat Dolls.

Definately good to see! That's what the first part of the article in the KC star talked about yesterday. Tech said he hated to cut his hair because he had it for such a long time, but it had to be done. Tech was like, "Now I get my hair cut once a week." He also said he figures he's a little more "approachable" now!

I just downloaded Sway by Dean Martin and I didn't hear him say the chorus, but Dean Martins voice does not sound like the voice on "Welcome to the Midwest". I just sort of breezed through the old song, but I do hear that is where the melody for the beat was inspired from (also, I might have got a short/different version).

I know Kaliko is talented, but looking at him with his big frame and hearing the chorus in the song, I can not picture him singing it. He could definitely pull it off, but look at a picture of him while listening to the song. I am more of an old school Tech fan and remember being up at 7th heaven getting Mitch Bade single and trying to find out when his Warner Bros album was gonna get released...as we all know that never happened. I am just not familiar with Kaliko as much as I haven't heard him much outside of any of Tech N9ne's albums. I've heard he has an opera bit at a show, so I can see him doing it, but it sounds like a sample. But whatever, I love that song and that chorus a lot.

I believe ya'll. Listened to the album again today (been playing it straight since last week) and Kaliko needs to do a lounge record or something cause that chorus is flawless ;)
