Rap star hopefuls (the "Wannabes") "Money", "Lucky" and "Skrilla", played by Peter Ramirez, and San Jose rappers Raymond "Playa Rae" Molina and Robert "Young Cap" Calderon, find themselves in a heap of trouble when they steal another Chicano rap group's song and record it as their own and win a contest at a local radio station. The other group is lead by NOEL GUGLIELMI as "G-Man" who played memorable roles in such hits as SWAT, Training Day, Bruce Almighty (remember the "monkey out of the but?"), Fast and The Furious and the indie hit Party Animalz. Also in the crew are Chicano hip-hop star Queenie. Playing in the role of the "Wannabes" slick, fast-talking manager "Ray" is well known Chicano actor Ismael Vidrio who has appeared in music videos for Jennifer Lopez, Christina Aguilaera, the hit movie Collateral with Jaime Foxx and Tom Cruise as well as many other indie classic.
When they win the contest, mayhem ensues as the "not-so dynamic trio" is chased all over town by the "real" gangster rap group who owns the song. The movie is backed by an amazing soundtrack featuring the hottest established and up and coming rappers and Latino rappers including Guerilla Black, Mac Dre, Queenie, Gambreakerz, MC Eiht, Haystak, Gemini, Yukmouth, Mike Jones, C-Bo and more.
