Alright, i've been reading a lot of these bay area posts for the past 6 months, and i have a couple thoughts of my own from the land of HARDNOX over here...

burnrubber put up some good points that I felt... However, I think there is a lot more where that came from.

First off, the bay is dead, i'll admit that, while you have some bay cats gettin on the radio, if you listen to the songs, nothing is different about them, the beats, lyrics, direction, absolutley nothing. Anybody remember what Jay-Z said with Sway in his interview on MTV? He said "If all the other rappers are over here, you gotta be way over there" And that is just it, if any artists want to ne in it for the longrun, you need to pave your own road, and yes it IS HARD, but it this shit way easy everybody would be doing it.

Look at the past 4-5 years in music... Who's blown up and stayed blown up? Let's see - we got Eminem, Nelly, Linkin Park, Norah Jones just to name a few... What do all these artists have in common? They all have their own distinctive sound and style whether YOU like it or not. Sure, when I first heard "My Name Is" on MTV, the first words my brother and i said as we watched the video were "You're fucking kidding me..." It was soo different I don't know what to say, but i couldn't deny it, i couldn't deny the fact that this new rapper Eminem was going off on justy about everythnig and had the balls to say and didn;t give a shit what people thought. I grew to love it, and so did the world, and that;s why he's a wealthy man right now. The same with Nelly and Linkin Park... Linkin Park CREATED their market, they made hip hop heads who wouldn't normally like rock music, like it... They made rock heads who hated rap, find a liking to it.

To make it to the top, it is hard work, well all know that, but not many have the ethic. Most rap music in the bay is recycled, monotonous, plain, boring, and just the same ol same ol. HOWEVER, most of the mainstream music is the same. I use to buy CD's on a weekly basis. I now buy about 1 cd every 4 months if that -- and i do not download albums, the music just sucks so bad i don't want to buy it.

The next artist to come out of the bay and retain longevity will be something the bay and the world has never heard before -- Sonically and visually. Sure it is hard to get radio play on Clearchannel, cuz i agree with everyone on the whole corparte radio, cuz its true -- BUT there are other ways to make this shit crack.

My brother and I have a group called HARDNOX. A lot of people on this forum have supported what we do, and if anyone has listened to our music, you know that we are wayyy over here on our own side. Our music is different, but it works, and is working damn well right now. And just for everyones info, someone from the bay is close to crackin the top seal -- Jermaine Dupri has been talking to us for the past 2 months now and wants to work with the HARDNOX boys. SO we'll see what happens -- but the point is, be different stand your own ground, and kick ass while u do it, and the bay will be just fine! Take care and God Bless
