what in the fuck? i duno it didn't go thru.. hopefully it will this time.

i was asked to do a review for this CD....

Odious is a rapper from the South Bay. he has a somewhat abstract style with an energetic and rapid-fire delivery. he sounds alot like Slug from Atmosphere. his style is similar to the likes of Zion I, Living Legends, Z-Man, Atmosphere, Cannibal Ox, etc.

Rating system: 1-5 scale with 1 being the worst, 5 being the best.

1. The Beginning = 4/5.... this song showcases his talent. in it, he is comparing hip hop to myths and whatnot. he spit so fast i could barely keep up with him. the beat was a lil bit repetitive but the cinematics of it kept me listening.

2. If I Had Nothing Else = 5/5.... listening to this song more and more got me addicted to this beat, it's one of my personal favorites on this CD. the title is self explanitory, if he had nothing else he'd still rap. he's declaring his love to hip hop. this beat is evil, just how i like it. the piano gives it a dark eerie feeling.

3. It's Alright (Juice, Vakill) = 4/5.... talk about smooth, this beat is on hit despite it's BPM. Odious does the hook and a verse at the end. Juice and Vakill can flow but i couldn't get on their level. some of their lyrics were a lil too far out there for me.

4. In Two Minds Of Madness (C-Rayz Walz) = 3/5.... i never heard of C-Rayz Walz but i liked his flow on this song. he had a unique harmonic flow. he owned this beat. for some reason i couldn't get into Odious when C-Rayz's verse was over.

5. I Don't Need = 5/5.... this beat was epic, the strings gave it a serious tone. it's sort of a part 2 to track 2: 'If I Had Nothing Else.' i wish the beat didn't cut out during one part. otherwise it's my 2nd favorite on this album.

6. Follow My Path **Missing from the copy i was sent**

7. Elevate (Crooked I, Rass Kass) = 4/5.... the beat is kinda basic but when Crooked I started to flow it didn't matter. Odious layed a quick verse and Rass Kass followed. the topic of this cut is the ressurection of the West Coast. Odious deserved to be on a track with these great lyricists.

8. Clock Punching = 2/5.... first thing i didn't like about this song was the beat. i also didn't catch the topic of this song.... can't win em all, it's ok tho, the next two songs make up for it.

9. Lost (Ugly Truth) = 4/5.... i really don't like 'chipmunk' style beats but this was not the typical one. battling with cocaine is the subject of this track. there's some true lines in this cut, i gotta give him that.

10. I Hope That I Am Wrong = 4/5.... this beat is beautiful. it touches on trust issues with women.. i can feel alot of lines in this one. despite having alot of energy in his flow, his voice is got to be a lil bit monotone. that's my only complaint, otherwise this is a solid song.

11. Self Destruction = 3/5.... here we have a 'real spit' song tellin stories about how people do the worst shit to 'feel accepted.' the way he raps about the different scenarios really puts you in the shoes of the characters. this beat was kinda boring tho i must say.

12. I'm Sorry = 3/5.... the outro.. he's givin shout outs to important people in his life in the form of raps. a creative way to end the CD. the beat was alright.

overall, the production on this CD impressed me. a majority of the beats are refreshing. i'm not sure how many albums Odious is deep in the game, but this one is great. the only thing i'd ask for Odious was to focus on just one topic for each song. i'd hit up Tragik if you wana know how to get a copy of this album which i highly recommend.
