The Game Discusses Suicidal Thoughts in New Ish of "Complex"

In a recent interview with Complex magazine, The Game spoke candidly about thoughts of suicide, his loyalty to Dr. Dre and having nightmares of trading places with Tupac.

While some may think that the West Coast emcee's life has been set since dropping his multi-platinum debut The Documentary, Game set the record straight and revealed that he has been significantly affected by all of the drama that he has faced in recent months. "I was, six months ago, at a point of my life where I felt like I knew how it felt for a person to want to commit suicide. Life was just that bad," said the Compton rapper. "I felt like I didn't get the props that I deserved, and that started f*cking with me. And when you hear this album, you'll hear the conviction and the pain."

He also outlined "...sitting in a closet by himself with f*cking tears running down my face, trying to figure out, how did I go from being one of the best rappers in the world and the most loved to being one of the most hated?"

The Game also took the opportunity to address Dr. Dre's noticeable absence from his new LP and why his lack of involvement with the record has not changed the dynamic of their relationship.

"I stay loyal. It's like people trying to...just because people think Dre's not working on the album, or they feel like Dre turned his back, doesn't mean that I'm not going to stay loyal to the guy that has helped me turn my life around." He goes on to say, "How about giving me a chance to feed my family for the rest of my life? Isn't that better than giving me a beat?"

Expressing his desire to want to be in "Dre's role," Hurricane Game admitted to planning a retirement from rap in exchange for duties as a producer. "I think that I'm going to probably quit rapping around 31. It's not about digging in the cookie jar until all the crumbs are gone....that's why I'm producing on this album." The rapper also questions whether or not Eazy-E really died of AIDS and his own fear of an untimely death. "I have nightmares of situations where people were murdered or their life ended in some tragedy; but instead of it being them, it's me. I have nightmares of Kanye West's car crash breaking up my face. I have nightmares of being in the car with Suge and sitting in Pac's position. I wake up trying to rationalize and analyze the situations or think about how Pac really died. What don't people know?

The October/November issue of Complex hits newsstands on October 10.

I can see it already..people sayin' Game is a pussy for what he's sayin' in this article....ON THE CONTRARY!

He's speakin' on some real shit, some real feelings, and some real thoughts that goes through an artists head. I experience shit like this, and I'm nowhere near Game's level in this industry. It can really fuck with a person when you're out, and everybody wants to be around you, and talk to you, and shake your hand...and then when you go home, there's nobody there. People want to test you, attack you, insult you...and you can't help but think about other rappers that passed on too early, and wonder if the same thing will happen to you.

Good read. I hope Game gets through all the shit that cats go through in this industry. If y'all think it's pure glamour and money when you blow up, become a doctor or some shit, because this isn't for you.

Thanks ZigZag.

People often wonder why famous cats flip out, become weird, kill themselves, are paranoid...etc. Well, in the rap game especially, the fame is no joke. It can really fuck with a persons head...yet everybody thinks money and bitches come, and everything is all good. You will see rappers sittin in a room alone, cryin'. You don't know who really loves you, who's out to get you....all that shit. When it comes to music, well, once you make a hit, the pressure is on you to keep supplying those hits, and when you don't, nobody loves you anymore...it's a real pain in the ass.

"my bayness" will not allow me to sympathize with game..... Why would you run around and talk mega shit, then in essence take it all back - if you're gonna be real then be real

People grow as artists, and as individuals. I used to be a hardhead and say whatever I wanted, too. But, my mentality has changed, I no longer thrive on beef and drama. Startin' shit is what a LOT of rappers do when they first come out, because they are trying to TAKE their RESPECT.

Game has every right to regret shit, and become a new person, and that is AS REAL AS IT GETS! The fake cats, are the ones runnin' around actin' hard throughout their entire career, and covering up the fact that they also deal with mental anguish and certain pain. The cats that claim they never cry, and never express remorse for saying things when it does bother them, are the ones that aren't bein' real. Cats think keepin' it real, is bein' a fuckin hardass all the damn time. Bein' real, is telling people how you feel, no matter how hard or soft it may seem...and that's what this genre of music is all about.

I became a game fan not to long ago...but when you protray your self as a gangsta & you don't keep up consistency you lose creadbilty! how you handle your situations is what makes you a man..gangsta rap is a race for pitts not poodles.dont get me wrong being on top is NEVER eazy in anything your involved in. usually its a long solo road, how you handle it makes you what you are. Crying in a closet that's some 12 year old girl type of shit.

I agree, but that's a whole new can of worms right there. I was just sayin', he has the right to feel fucked up in his position, and he has the right to change his mind on certain beef and all that...doesn't make him less of a man. But, you're right, goin' back and forth all the time, is ridiculous.

Yeah I know what you saying, you see, I remember when game decided to be cool with 50 and then next day, he takes shots at him out at the concert (summer jam), beefin, and then next day, he decides to be cool with him, and then next day "fuck 50"....oh well, I don't know

sydal... are u the BLack Wall Street Publicist???
Nope, I just know how dude feels...I go through the same shit, that's why I know how he feels and exactly what the fuck he's talkin about, ya know? My point was, I don't even have the fame that dude has, and it's already fucked with me a bit...it's just how the game goes. I do know what it's like to go out, and have everybody want an autograph, or to talk to me and shake my hand, then have nobody around when I go home. Or have people hatin', cats that want to test your nuts just because you're doin' somethin' they can't do. It's sad, and it fucks with dudes heads a bit.

I agree, dude needs to feel one way and stick to it, but it's hard...there's a lot of decisions cats need to make when they are out there like that. You got a good thing goin' for you, but your mind is tellin' you to go fuck cats up...it's a big inner struggle, and I don't expect anybody to understand it until they are put in that situation.

he's crazy for ever thinking he was one of the greatest rappers in the world.

but anyway, this just seems like another marketing tactic to me. in every video, interview, & in so many songs he does his best to evoke images of 2pac & eazy-e...he talks about them, attempts to emulate them, & does it repeatedly in hopes you'll see him in the same lite as the greats, & link them together. but he's trying too hard...& his people are trying too hard. now he's busy playin tha sensative, deep, suicydal, visions-of-death roll like pac. he's already done the whole rap beef thing, repped compton as hard as he could, displayed his NWA tatt in videos, etc. what he said in that interview is not the type of shit a person admits to the media without reason.

so it's either that, or he's just really obsessed with them. like ja rule.

either way he's never seemed genuine to me. & i'm tired of hearin' "pac" & "eazy" comin' outta his mouth.
