A story that'll make you never want to trust another person ever again finally has an ending.
The two people who planted a shotgun and drugs in the car of an innocent teacher have been found guilty.
Devon Eileen Abbott, 33, of Mira Loma, Calif., and Soloman Brian Silver, 42, of Portland, Maine, were convicted Friday.
Back in May 2008, the pair conspired to hide marijuana, prescription pills and a shotgun in the car of Abbott's estranged husband, Gregory Abbott.
Then they filed a false police report.
The set-up worked, and authorities discovered the gun and drugs, and arrested Gregory Abbott, a teacher at Sunny Hills High School.
Police believed Gregory Abbott's story and arrested the conspirators two days later.
"At around the time that the victim was arrested, the defendants texted, 'YES ITS GONNA HAPPEN!' and 'WE F***** GOT HIM!'" the Orange County District Attorney said in a statement released Friday.
Devon Abbott and Silver pleaded guilty on one felony count of conspiracy to falsely charge a crime, one felony count of false imprisonment by fraud and one felony count of conspiracy to commit a crime.
Devon Abbott also pleaded guilty to one misdemeanor count of transportation of marijuana.
Silver also pleaded guilty to one felony count of possession of a firearm by a felon and was sentenced to three years in state prison.
Devon Abbott, who pleaded to the court, was sentenced to a maximum of one year of home confinement.
Devon Abbott's sentence could have been worse, but the two have reconciled and her husband asked the court for leniency, the Orange County Register reported.
Superior Court Judge Thomas Goethals said the thought about giving her prison time, but was swayed when he learned the couple is back together, the newspaper reported.
