Stealing a car with bad tags? Why

i was pondering this thought...why would anyone steal a car with expired tags? It just doesnt make sense

if you are going to run the risk of getting convicted of a felony, why not do it right and steal a car with good tags...isnt that just common sense?

i mean im no pro car thief, but wouldnt something like this just be what you would learn on day 1 of "how to steal a car"

i mean you wouldnt steal a bright pink mercedes right? it just would be too noticebale around town...

so why would you steal a car that would get pulled over for bad tags in a neighborhood filled with patrol cars ?

maybe im just getting old
