Do you memorize them? Care about them? Would you be interested in a website that had them for your favorite albums?

It's hard to have a hot show when the crowd doesn't know the words. Maybe 100 and 1000 people wouldn't go and look at lyrics every day, but IMO, it would be cool if there were a place to actually GET them.

The individual sites (RedHeadSteve.com, etc.) with lyrics are cool, but what about Cool Nutz? Mr. DOG? 151? Unexpected Arrival?

Is this a complete waste of time (it takes about 1/2 hour to one hour to type out a song), or are there people out there actually interested in this? Would you agree that this would motivate people to rap along at the shows, or is it something that would just sit around being useless?

Let it be known.

I think it'd be cool to have prominent NW artists' lyrics on a website, but at the same time, I'm an artist.. I would solely look at their lyrics to catch a word or phrase I didn't get when hearing it first. 16-year-old white girls probably don't care.

I'm not an artist.... but would look at the lyrics if there was a ^^ word or phrase I couldnt get.. I remember Notes laughed at me when I had one of COLA's lines alllll twisted... lol.. but if its that big of an issue I'd just send that artist a text and say uhhh.. what the HELL is it that youre sayin'.....? As for typing out lyrics that take a 1/2 hour to an hour.. nah..

I'm asking because I'm going to do it regardless of what people say. I'm not going to bother with the stupid ass, "If even one person uses the site, it'll all have been worth it!", but trust me.....this is something the people want whether they (or you) realize it or not.

But hey, one less thing your site will have, one more thing mine will have. And it won't be the last.

Lyrics are cool only when I already know most the lyrics, and just want to catch a couple lyrics that I can't understand, or need clarified. Usually if the song is worth a shit I'll know all the lyrics anyway.......

^^ Very true...thats the main reason for it. Nobody is going to be stupid enough (I hope) to open the song, download the lyrics, and then memorize everything from scratch. But if you already know 80% of the song, why not fill in the gaps? I'll feel like a monk copying manuscripts but oh well. C'est la vie, et la vie est belle.

Instead of just putting this up on a NW website that will have very limited traffic, why don't you e-mail ohhla or somthing like that and see if they will ad the artists to their lists if you type the lyrics up. That will probably give the NW a lot more exposure than a NW site dedicated to rappers most of the people visiting the site will already know all about.

Ohhla can be a plan B. Their criteria for getting song lyrics added aren't too friendly to this environment (MUST be available nationwide, MUST not be a CD-R, NO mixtape/Non-Album tracks, and so on). That would mean about 10% of albums would get covered and the other 90% would get nothing.
