Since EVERYBODY is a rapper now what does it take for YOU (fan, artist, reviewer, DJ, etc...)to give a new artist a chance? Think of the last few artists that you just recently got into, how did that happen? was it off a compilation? radio? myspace request? mixtape? was it someone pushing their cd on you in some parking lot? what worked?

what didn't work? are there artists that you didn't even fuck with based on their approach or methods or affiliations?

Latest artist I got into was Shame, from these forums. First was the video What's Gangsta. Then when he posted the free album download, after seeing it a few times, I decided to listen to it since I knew it had that song What's Gangsta. Sick album. so much real spit. and the skits/interludes weren't the usual crap.

yes i agree everyone is wanting to rap and all that but only a selected few get called out to get their album pushed out across the nation very few

so it takes alot of talent and potential in growth

anyone can just put out mixtapes but real talk tho...i fucks wit alot of jerzey kats and they put out mixtape atleast once or twice a month if u wanna become somthing just make sure that everytime u stepp up on that mic and sing or rap u better bring it cuz it mite be ur last....dont make these funny tracks and push it out their if its not ur best simple as that........u can get shot down before u get up!!

also a good way to start is by linking up with another artists that can make u step ur game up thats why groups is a good thing if everyone meshes well because it cause u to do ur best at all time or simply ur assed out

to me, the only ones that i take a chance is if i heard a freestlye from them or word of mouth.

Usually the ones i dont give chances to are ones that are massively rockin jewelry, spit about blastin in every song, movin weight or fuckin hoes. Or talkin about how gangster they are. just aint my thing so i dont listen to them

taj-he-spitz is the only nigga that i found out about randomly...nigga got heat yall should really check out that nigga soundclick page...since i make beats i fuck wit too many young ass rappers so you gotta be really dope for me to feel you especially if you come up to me wit a mixtape to listen to and yo brag about features...about 60 % of these rappers out here need to do some behind the scenes shit like managing, promotion,or studio shit instead of rappin either that or go back to sellin dope or go to college

It's a shame to say it but I don't fuck with new rappers since everybody sounds the same on the same type of beats. It's because I have realized what you just said in your heading, everybodys a rapper now.
I don't like to admit it, but I have been disappointed too many times by weak new rappers on crappy beats. 99% of my new CDs are listened to a very limited amount of time before they are put away, hopefully not for good. I'd rather focus on filling holes in my collection of rap before 2000
