What's wrong with that? I read that B 12 said there is "too much" self promoting on the board. How else is anyone suppose to come up? Holla back folks.

If you dont promote yourself....who is gonna promote you. You gonna sit there and hope someone stumbles upon your music???? Of course this is about self promotion. Look out for yourself because no one else will.

I dont know. 12er was quite the promoter himself...

Although it is quite annoying to see EVERYONE saying their product is the newest hottest tightest shit since Makaveli.

I agree, promoting is one thing but why do folks gotta say they shit is on "another level"? I aint promoted my shit once but when i do im not gonna hype it up as the greatest album ever! just let people know what it is and when is comin.

First off, M Dash, REAL tight cover....

Secondly, There is nothing wrong with promoting on this board. When I said "there is too much self promotion on this board" I should have explained what I meant. I'm talking about when someone asks what albums were the tightest of 2002 and a rapper or label owner says, Jay Z, Nas and my shit. Who is the tightest out right now, 50 Cent & me. When rappers come on here and claim that when their shit drops, the game is gonna change. Keep it real. Nobody has changed anything in the Bay in years, including myself, and I'm about 97% sure that nobody will for at least a few years. With all of the BIG hype that went on here last year, NOBODY sold over 10,000 units from the Bay except B-Legit, who sold about 50,000 & E-40, who sold about 200,000. So, attention all rappers and label owners, next time your album comes out, don't come on here and say that it's gonna BLOW UP, because it probably won't. I sold almost a million units in 1992 and stayed in Hawaii for a month and now I would be happy if I sold 15,000 units and got to go to Yakima, Washington. That's reality. So next time, come on here and say, hey, I got a new album out, it's called such & such, these are the features and these are the producers. Check it out. Don't try and shove it down peoples throat. That's all I was talking about. I don't try and fool anyone on here. I tell em' what I got, and let them be the judge. This is just My opinion and was aimed at no one in particular, but everyone in general....

real talk Jay Tee...
in that case, i feel where you're coming from 100%.
there's a thin-line between confidence and consequence and it's a 50/50 chance of fallin' on either side...

it's gonna be like that in every avenue of life, but i can't knock a man for wanting to rid himself of uneccesary stress...some things aren't worth it...

do the damn thang to all

The key to success in the bay area is simple.

106.1 KMEL

If they play our shit, everyone else will. The bay area is the hardest radio to get on in the nation. If KMEL cats are so coo with bay artists they need to do something about that. Self promotion annoys the shit out of me, but it has to be done to get names out. Chuy Gomez could blow up the bay if he wanted to. I say us as artists, producers, promoters, graphic designers, and fans all get together and somehow get on the fuckin radio...1

Jay Tee is exactly on point.
It's OK to let people know your putitng something out. Give them a little taste of it with a few sample tracks. I've seen some quality product advertised on here, and I've seen some crap. Just don't claim your the greatest unless you're Muhammad Ali, and please don't make a post to every message board...
