5 consecutive years in the playoffs, 4 consecutive years with a home game.

Never neglect to appreciate this, that is not normal in the NFL, we are lucky. It was only two years ago on this date that the Seahawks had won a total of 1 playoff game in my LIFETIME.

It's the Playoffs, it is a tough matchup almost by default. In this five year run, I tally the Hawks with 1 easy win, 2 tough wins, 3 tough losses (final play of the game all 3 times) and 1 "loss" which we won't talk about. So that's 7 games, only 1 easy victory.

I don't think it will be easy on Saturday, but I do think the Seahawks will win. I would be ecstatic if it was easy though, I fuckin HATE drama in the playoffs.

OK we know who you guys want to win. Who do you guys think will win? My guess is all four think the Skins will win, but I'm just trying to clarify just to be sure.
It's not who we think will win, it's who we want to win./

I know, other than screaming our lungs out to cause the occasional false start, as fans we're pretty powerless. Very true.

BUT

I'm just trying to get you to go out on a limb a little bit, put yourself out there. Seattle or Washington?

i think that this should be an easy win for us, but then again we lost to the steelers in the superbowl

didnt steelers go 6-0 their last games to end in 10-6, and were riding on lots of momentum and emotions of jerome bettis retiring and shit? basically same thing redskins are doing with the death of sean taylor

i hope that they dont pull an upset against us at home, but i do think that we'll end all of the redskins hopes this game

ok seahawk fans maybe you can help me, we played the redskins twice in 05 when we went to the superbowl did we not?

the first regular season game against them we barely lost in overtime cause josh brown missed a fieldgoal, and the playoff game we had vs them we won relatively decisively because of the hard work of mack strong, i think he even busted like a 40 yard run in that game.

so basically im thinking to beat the redskins we just gotta keep our passing game strong, but shawn alexander needs to bust at least once nice run combined with some decent yardage as well by morris, we need at least 90 rushing yards i think to win. cause i think the redskins probably average 90 yards rushing a game

You remember correct. In September of '05 the Hawks picked off a pass on a batted ball late in the 4th quarter to put them in position for a game winning FG, 48 yards. Josh Brown kicked the shit out of it, the distance would've been good from over 60 yards, but it hit the left upright, and they lost in OT.

And for the playoff game, we won by 10 pts but it was a pretty tense game throughout. Washington went up early, Shaun Alexander was out, and basically it was Hasselbeck's clutch performance and leadership that lead us to that win. He threw a ridiculous TD to Darrell Jackson in the 1st half and also scored on an impressive keeper in the 2nd. The run you're referring to by Mack Strong was on a 3rd and 18. The Seahawks were up by 7 late in the 4th quarter, and in that long yardage situation Holmgren basically was just going to draw play it for 8 yards then punt it away, but then Mack Strong busted that draw play for a 1st down and eventual game clinching FG to make it a two-possession game.

so basically im thinking to beat the redskins we just gotta keep our passing game strong, but shawn alexander needs to bust at least once nice run combined with some decent yardage as well by morris, we need at least 90 rushing yards i think to win. cause i think the redskins probably average 90 yards rushing a game
Balance is overrated. Holmgren has been saying that for awhile, and I believe him. The one time when you simply have to be able to run it is in 3rd & short, but other than that, I don't give a shit. If you were to tell me the Seahawks would rush for 50 yards on the game, but go 4 for 5 rushing on 3rd & 2 or less, I would take that. The reason people think rushing wins you games is b/c teams do rush for more yards in games they win than lose, HOWEVER, that is only because when protecting a lead, especially one of 2 possessions or more, they are more inclined to rush it constantly to bleed the clock.

I expect the Seahawks to run for between 75 and 110 yards on Saturday, but not necessarily b/c they'll be running it effectively, but more b/c I expect them to be ahead and then go somewhat conservative.

One thing I will say right now that I'm scared about is the Hawks running that mini-bootleg on 3rd & 1 where Hasselbeck fakes the handoff, rolls out to his right and hits the TE who slipped out after faking a block. They run that on 3rd & 1 so much, I screamed at the TV on Sunday when they did it successfully to Pollard just b/c I was pissed they showed it again. I am worried they will try that again Saturday and Washington will be ready for it, not bite on the fake handoff and have an OLB in Hasselbeck's grill as he turns around. I'm absolutely terrified of that happening.
