I think Alabama gave him a 8-10 year contract at around 4 mill a year. But I saw an interviw and he was talkin bout his head coachin in the NFL, and gettin home at 1 in the mornin, and not bein able to have a conversation with his wife. Sounded like he was burned out, but then again in the NFL these fooz gotta eat, sleep and breathe football 24/7. You would think in college football it would be the same thing though, but maybe less pressure.

See I see it the other way around, you work your ass off during preseason and regular season, but shit is over in the offseason (to an extent) you still have workouts and shit, but not the full hours like the season.

Whereas in college you have the boosters to keep happy, you have recruiting season which is more travel and film than regular season, and in college you have to deal with academic side of shit eligible or inelegible players due to academics, players leaving after a couple years just skipping out on the 4yr commitment...etc...

I think going back to college is not smart when you are secure in the NFL. Now if you just got fired in the nfl or you know you're getting let go that;s another issue, but when the team says they want you and the team showed a little life, I think you gotta stay longer.

The college jobs come around all the time for NFL coaches.

Some coaches are college coaches...and some are pro coaches. It's obvious that Saban is a college coach. Granted...he has been an assistant in the NFL before...but he probably feels more comfortable in college.

The thing about the NFL is that you are NEVER secure. One more season like he had in Miami...he would have probably been fired anyway. The NFL has become a win now league.

I'm sure Alabama will help him in recruiting. Besides...the NFL and college are very similar anyway. A player may leave after two years...but it's no different than the NFL and free agency.

He'll make a ton of money, get to spend more time with his family, and he won't have to deal with millionaire egos like Ecose said.

Seems like a win-win situation.

--- And one more thing...I don't know if any of you have ever been to Alabama. I went a couple years ago...and to them...there is nothing bigger than Alabama football. Saban will be treated like a God (assuming he wins of course).

Now he gets to go back to recruiting in the offseason, dealing with players who he will be recruiting for days but then leave after 2 years, etc etc etc.
Players aren't even allowed to leave until after 3 years (3 playing years or 2 playing & 1 redshirt). If he's losing guys after 3 years, that means he's probably doing a pretty darn good job.

The weirdest thing to me about this is he ends up going back to the conference where he got the NFL job, only he'll be coaching a far less talented team (albeit, a more prestigious one) than the team he left. Alabama doesn't even get the best players from Alabama anymore.

So what's weird is 4 years ago he was winning a National Championship at LSU, now he's going back to the same conference, so LSU will kick their ass, Florida will kick their ass, Auburn will kick their ass, Georgia will kick their ass, Tennessee will kick their ass. I actually think his prospects for winning the big one were higher in the NFL.

Kick their ass?

It's not like Alabama was getting blown out of games. They've played tough and will always have talented players.

Saban's name alone will bring in better players...and coaching should handle the rest.

I think he'll turn them around...it was a good move.

I think it was a great move for Bama, they definitely will be better. LSU's best player is from Alabama (Jamarcus Russell), so maybe he stays in state with a coach like Saban.

But they won't be as good as LSU, that I'm pretty sure of.

NFL head coaching job is wayyyy more stressfull then college football IMO. Like Aryo said, you gotta eat, sleep and breathe football 24/7...there no offseason really, soon as the season is over you gotta start evaluating yourself and the whole football team and shit.

Also, in the NFL you only get one first round pick...in college shit you can recruit who ever the fuck you want and especially if you are a big name college...you got a better chance of turning around a team or stayin at top coz more of the best players from the country would wanna play there...

In the first year?Of course not. No one expects a first year coach to take a team to the NC game.

Bama was descent this year and they have a talented young QB in Mustain. Thats a good cornerstone to work with right there.

This was the right move financial wise and experience wise. Bama has always beena more prestigeous school than LSU. I think they expect him to being back Bama football like it was 50 years ago.

Absolutely, arguably the most prestigious job in the nation.

Now somebody needs to throw some titties in his face and get him fired in a week, LOL.
