Turner in town visiting with Titans

By JIM WYATT
Staff Writer

Chargers running back Michael Turner is visiting today with Titans officials at Baptist Sports Park.

Turner, a restricted free agent rushed for 502 yards and 2 touchdowns last season while playing behind MVP LaDanian Tomlinson.

Turner has been tendered at the highest level which means if the Titans signed him to an offer sheet, the Chargers would have the right to match it. The Bills are also strongly interested in Turner.

the talks are doing a falcon/texan type trade......they would just MOVE UP in the draft to number 19...we would get there first round picks and we would give them our 3rd..THATS not bad.....plenty of other teams show intrest too....and they chooser lower then the titans....like buffalo

thats not bad.....we dont lose much....the titans have 10 draft picks this year which is the most by anyteam (tied with the cowboys)....you can still find solid player at number 29 in the first round....

and next year we will have a compensatory picks for losing bennett wade and TH henry and we will most likely have 2 3rd round picks

turner is the real deal and is ready to step.......if only the titans knew if Lendale White can step it up...

it would suck to be a gm right now

Why release henry and get turner?????

TH is my boy and wish him well in denver......but he is one failed drug test away from being suspended a whole year.....if he doesnt fail one by the 3rd game he may rotate out of it.....he was owed huge money and talks stoped.....it happens in football and turner is a young rb with huge potential.....

i really see turner as an upgrade to TH for the long run

i would love for this to happen, turner is the the truth....business wise though we need to get something for him now otherwise he walks next year.

thats what im saying....moving back 10 spots in the draft is nothing to serious.....a lot of people should know that turner is worth it....

from the SDchargers forum

STATS tracks broken tackles. Last year, Michael Turner broke an amazing 22 tackles in only 80 carries, which comes out to a broken tackle on an incredible 26.3% of his carries. Among players with any appreciable number of carries, this was by far the best in the NFL. Next best was Maurice Jones-Drew, who broke 31 tackles in 166 carries (15.1%). To put these numbers in context, LT broke 16 tackles in 348 carries (3.7%), Larry Johnson broke 26 tackles in 416 carries (6%), and Ronnie Brown broke 13 tackles in 241 carries (5%). Turner wasn't just a one-year wonder with the broken tackles -- in 2005 he broke 12 tackles in 57 attempts (18.2%).Of his 502 rushing yards in 2006, Turner gained 286 of them after contact, an average of 3.6 yards per carry after contact. In 2005, 201 of Turner's 335yards were after contact, an average of 3.5 yards per carry after contact.

i think he is close to proven.....you can bring in any decent back and get him 1000+ yards with a solid o-line which the titans have......turner is worth it IMO
