Lamont Jordan to be cut or traded

Lamont Jordan on the trading block

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The Raiders are reportedly looking to trade LaMont Jordan before his roster bonus is due Wednesday. If not, they are expected to cut him.
Bills.com's blog reports about Jordan being on the market, which isn't a huge surprise. Profootballtalk.com said Monday that Jordan will be cut if he's not dealt. Jordan would immediately be the best running back available in free agency, and could draw interest from the Packers, Jets, and Bills.

Ronald Curry= TRUE RAIDER, restructures and signs 5 year extension

"The Raiders restructured the contract of wide receiver Ronald Curry, who was due a $5 million option bonus payment. Instead, the Raiders signed him to a five-year, $20 million contract, including $8.5 million worth of guaranteed money."

Raiders not convinced in drafting Russel?

Raiders not convinced in Russell?
JaMarcus Russell - QB - CLG - Mar. 5 - 2:09 pm et
The Raiders reportedly came away from the NFL Scouting Combine less than convinced that JaMarcus Russell would be their choice with the first pick of the NFL draft.
Beware any pre-draft talk like this, but Oakland's impatience in 'rebuilding' their time is also a factor. Steve Corkran of the Contra Costa Times believes Calvin Johnson has an equal chance to be drafted first. Mar. 5 - 2:09

and to my fellow Raider fans heres a positive word from our very own Ray Guy ( who should be in the hall of fame by the way )

Raiders.com: Are there any messages you want to send to Raider fans?

Ray Guy: Hang in there. Sometimes you go through the good times and you go through the bad times, but that's pretty much normal. I know you hate to see it, but things like that happen. Especially when you go through a time in your life where things change and it's a little bit different than it was in the past, but I can always tell them what my grandfather and my dad always told us, 'what goes around does come back around, you just got to be patient.' I know it's tough to live through those times, and that you get frustrated, but things do have a way of happening for a reason and when it does work out, you'll see the light at the end of the tunnel again. Just hang in there.

Jordan staying a Raider, restructures deal

LaMont Jordan agreed to reduce his roster bonus from $4.75 million to $3 million on Monday, and will stay with the Raiders in 2007.

It's still probable that he'll face competition for his starting job, though we feel he'll win unless Oakland surprises everyone and takes Adrian Peterson with the No. 1 overall pick

Yeah... Jordan is nobody to be afraid of. Teams don't game plan for him. He's aight... but if I am Oakland, I would draft a running back in the second round.

That's his problem. Nobody gives a shit about him because they know he'll do an average job at best. He'll rack up a couple 100 yard games just like any RB will now and then, but it won't be on a consistant basis and he'll never do anything spectacular on the field. He doesn't have the skill or ability to be a dangerous Back, no matter how good or bad his line is. They need to look elsewhere.

I agree... we need a running back with vision and break away speed. Vargas doesn't have it either.... If I am Al Davis... I would draft Russell with the 1st pick and then in the second round, I'd draft the best running back available. If we end up trading Moss (for a 1st rounder hopefully) I'd use that pick on a receiver to replace Moss. If we trade him for a second rounder I'd still use that draft pick on a replacement for Moss. I wouldn't trade him for a third rounder. I'd keep him because he's worth more than a third round pick.
