The Fixxers a.k.a. Quik and AMG, don’t have to drop an album with Interscope because they’re starving or anything like that. They’re content with where they’re at – they’re chillin’. Quik and AMG, both legends in the rap music game, have put in more work than what you probably think. From writing and producing records, engineering songs to defining the West Coast sound –the duo are reaping the benefits of clocking overtime.

A sunny Los Angeles day definitely calls for a backyard BBQ. Canopy setups, hella food, and a brand new shiny BBQ grill makes the cipher complete. Greeting us at the already shiny new grill and still buffing it was Quik, who dropped his “DJ” surname. Quik explains, “I ain’t a DJ no more, I quit. Can’t compete in that game. I like what the young people are doing with it, all the crab scratching and orbit scratches and shit, I never took the time to learn it, so I’m out the game in that sense. But I still do my [music] engineering, I’m still the best at that shit. Holla!” Quik’s studio, which was housed in his backyard was a complete mess. Studio equipment, both vintage and brand new, lyrics on paper and record plaques were scattered around. But from chaos comes order as Quik swiftly moved about his studio’s floor plan playing one of his newest beats for us.
