question about making a video file smaller...

anyone know how to make a video smaller?

i have a video i converted from vhs and i wanted to put it on a dvd but the file is like 11gb. anyone know how that works. thanks in advance.

Damn 11 gigs? Is that shit like 5 hours long? LOL..... I use Final Cut Pro and save tha file using quicktime conversion....but if you gotta pc then IDK

best way to go from vhs to dvd is a dvd / vcr recorder, and if you were to try to shrink that video it would take hellllla long even with a fast computer. The reason your file is so large is the capture software you recorded with. Normally I capture video directly in the program i am going to edit it in, Premier or final cut but you need a pretty powerful machine to do large videos. Once you have it set up in a program like Premier you can export in all sorts of formats from web optimized to dvd.

yea its hella big. i heard you could compress it down but i have no clue on how to do that.

i should just do it the dvd to vcr way. seems a lot faster. but i don't have one of those type
