i use a buncha different shit, as well as equipment, mostly Cubase and Reason, but those both took me a loooong ass time to figure out. i have a mac so i could never use FruityLoops, but I heard that shit's good, although most beats i heard that came outta that sound pretty corny, but check it out...

The lowest-level Triton runs for 999, but i'm sure you can find someone to sell the same one used for around 700 or so. There's 9 Triton's that i know of, so once you master the bottom level ones, it only makes sense you would move towards the $3,000 model.

I would strongly suggest a background in rhyming or DJ'ing before you even waste your money though. If you can't write 16 bars, or mix flawlessly, you'll be hopelessly hitting keys and making bullshit with no real value.

Good luck!

....

if you want to make good beats, invest get some good equipment and learn with it, a lot of people tend to use fruity loops, which thier is nothing with its a great tool to start to learn with, if you get it down you can always use fruity loops when you get real equipment, you would be surprised alot of established artists use fruity loops, but with thier own equipment. most people think its just a joke, or net producers program, thats what i used to think but ive heard some people make some pretty nice beats on it..
